LET'S WATCH AS MANY HORROR MOVIES AS WE CAN IN OCTOBER!

"Cindy, the TV's leaking..."
Welp, I watched Eyes Without a Face yesterday. Pretty good. Not as graphic as the stuff I've been watching lately, but pretty gruesome for a film made in 1959. They showed the entire surgical removing of a girl's face, sparing no details. The ending was grim, but oddly beautiful. A really simple albeit disturbing story told in an elegant way. I like how the villains are really good people, just corrupted by a terrible tragedy.
I'm thinking Phenomena tonight. It's apparently the primary influence for the Clock Tower series, which I absolutely love. Not to mention Jennifer Connelly. I love her too. This was her first movie, in before Labyrinth even.

I watched the two Hosttel movies, the Ring 2 and the japanese Ring version, and now I can't sleep anymore.
Thank you, DVD shop!

So is Paranormal Activity playing around anyone? I want to go see it. ;_;
Me too, but sadly it's nowhere near me either. ;_;
Watched Phenomena last night, and I can definitely see it influencing Clock Tower. The main girl is even named Jennifer and sports long black hair. I was pleasantly surprised seeing Donald Pleasance (pun most definitely intended) in there. My main beef is the randomly placed pulse-pounding music like something out of the Splatterhouse series, which seem to be there just because the director likes it, not to create an atmosphere. But this is the fifth or sixth Dario Argento movie I've seen and I've learned that he likes doing that. The acting was pretty bad as well (sans Donald, he's pretty much perfect), but as this was Jennifer Connelly's first movie and how Argento really doesn't give a fuck about the quality of acting in his slasher movies, it's forgivable. Seeing a chimpanzee kill a woman with a razor blade is worth it. Oh, and the killer could have been alluded to with a bit more clarity. When you find out who it is you're just like... "kay..." But, again, a typical Dario Argento move. He just wants a reason to kill more bitches.
I want to watch Antichrist, but after reading this wiki excerpt: (NLS)
Polytechnique tonight, because it's short, and that's good on a school night. Then again it's also bad for a school night because it's about a school shooting...

The film has also come under attack for its explicit and often disturbing sexuality, including the opening scene showing a toddler falling to its death while He and She have sex on the bed nearby. The film has also invited controversy for its graphic sexual violence. In one controversial scene, She hits His testicles with a wooden plank so hard that it is implied they are crushed. While He is unconscious, she masturbates him until he ejaculates blood. She then drills a hole through his shin to bolt him onto a grindstone. In a later scene, She cuts off her own clitoris with a pair of rusty scissors.... I think I may have to wait until I'm home alone, or at the very least the weekend so I can watch it at 1 o'clock in the morning.

I watched the two Hostel movies last night, back-to-back, alone at night. Nothing really that scary, some gory bits which I found just disgusting as any sane human would. I don't understand why it's so good, it's average at best. The plot isn't that great and half of the film is just as fun as staring at a wall.
As for Noroi, that was on a lower budget (it shows) but it was way better. It kept you asking questions on why events are happening and what will happen next as any good thriller does and it throws in a mixture of horror which isn't that scary tbh (I'm probably not easily scared of things on screen) but it was a good film.
I slept well last night/early morning. :)

So is Paranormal Activity playing around anyone? I want to go see it. ;_;
I just saw it on Monday with my sister. It's had a very limited release, so we had to go a little out of our way for it. It's one of those home brew Blaire-Witchy types of movies where the whole thing's filmed from the perspective of one single camera. It was actually pretty good! I wouldn't say it was as scary as the American versions of The Ring or The Grudge, but it's worth a watch. If you can find it. It doesn't rely on gore or anything graphically shocking to be creepy, so it was kinda refreshing compared to what you usually get in horror flicks.
ZPE: Hostel doesn't appeal to me, and I've heard it's pretty subpar anywho. But man I loved Noroi. The ending... god. So screwed up. All that build-up was worth it. Blows REC, Blair Witch, Cloverfield, all those homemade horrors out of the park.
halib: Now I really have to see the American Ring. I'm not too enthusiastic about The Grudge (I hear even Ju-on wasn't very good). And I'll most definitely keep an eye out for Paranormal Activity. It's got to be playing around my town eventually.
Has anyone heard of that new alien-horror movie with the Resident Evil chick that's supposedly based on TRUE EVENTS. The Fourth Kind, I think. I'm not sure what to think of it, so I'll either let Rotten Tomatoes pass judgement on it or go see it with a friend. The trailer peaked my interest sorta.
Tombs of the Blind Dead tonight! Nothing like blind spanish skeletal nights. I might have to get the sequels if I like this one.
EDIT: Okay, the audio didn't match up with the video. This bothered me a lot, so no spanish skeletons for me. :\
EDIT2: Neither does Sleepaway Camp. Ah well. Think I'll take a break tonight. Catch up on my reading maybe.

I want to go and see Stepfather when it comes out. Doesn't look all that scary, but I like the idea.
Stepfather is a remake O_O
The Fog tonight. I love love love John Carpenter. Prince of Darkness is my favorite of his, it's so underrated compared to The Thing and Halloween. I like the Escape movies, too. No one is more badass than Snake Plissken.

Have you guys seen "Death of a Ghosthunter"?
I watched it a few weeks ago, for an independent movie it's quite enjoyable.
Just don't expect class A acting. :V
The Fog was great. Not as good as his other stuff, but still pretty dang entertaining.
I watched Antichrist last night. Was not disappointed. The images of a penis ejaculating blood and a clitoris being cut off by rusty scissors are sure to keep me up for a few nights. Eeewww... Still, good to see Willem Dafoe still acting. Fantastic actor.
Going to see Zombieland and Happiness of the Katakuris today with a few friends. Sure to be a grand ole time.

tardis you know you're trolling hard when even I'm kinda annoyed by you :<
Anywho, I saw Zombieland earlier today. Bill Murray had a fantastic cameo, probably the highlight of the movie. Jewish actor that was most definitely not Michael Cera is pretty much the role every introverted nerd wants to be in. A bunch of Hollywood cliches is the only thing that bogs it down, but I still enjoyed myself. Still not the best zomedy ever: that title will probably forever belong to Shaun of the Dead (with Dead Alive at a close second.)
Deep Red tonight. Man I love Dario Argento. Such a crazy dude. Some friends of mine and I were SUPPOSED to watch Happiness of the Katakuris tonight, but we got sidetracked with Super Smash Bros and Chinese food at another friend's house.
EDIT: DAMN Kwaidan is like 3 hours long. Well, it's four separate stories, maybe I could watch two one night and two the next...

I'm not trolling, dawg. I found that genuinely hilarious. I seriously had to stop and laugh while reading your post.
... This says horrible things about me, doesn't it?

Fiiiine, maybe the large text made it seem more blarghgargaba. And that phrase doesn't strike me as something that funny, especially when they actually SHOW IT. >_<
And I have a strong, strong hatred for the Saw movies. But I'll admit they're fun to watch with friends, so long as you don't take the story as seriously as it wants you to.
