I've watched Kung Fu Hustle and Iron Monkey recently. Both are excellent. I also watched Forbidden Kingdom semi-recently.

TCM is a great one. It was one of the first movies my father took my mother to see when they were dating.
Iron Monkey, man, I remember we had that on VHS and whenever we went on vacation my brothers and I would watch that in the car. We used to own a van with a TV in it. Not one of those pussy foldable things you see in minivans, like a moderately sized one. So many movies I know word-for-word because of that. Wayne's World, Better Off Dead, Austin Powers, Dumb and Dumber, Princess Mononoke...
Oh, and I'm watching the first half of Kwaidan tonight. It's four stories, so half tonight and half tomorrow. There's even an intermission since it's 3 hours. At least it's not like The Human Condition and 10 goddamn hours split up into 3 3 hour long movies. (Which reminds me I should watch No Greater Love soon.)

Oh god, don't even get me started on long-ass movies... I just watched Spartacus last night, and Ten Commandments a couple of weeks ago.

I'm going to start controversy -- the remake is heaps and bounds superior to the original, in my humble opinion. I am a HUGE horror fan for starters, and I have an enormous appreciation for the "golden age" of horror...but I could not get into this movie. I tried, and tried, and tried. I wanted to like this SO bad, but I could never finish it. Everything about it is just so painfully dated and awful.

This is pretty much the case for every horror franchise every created. Lest we forget the Friday the 13th series? (or Hellraiser, for that matter)
In terms of consistency, the Saw series is probably one of the best in the horror genre.

Being consistently bad isn't a good thing though. :\ At least the original Friday the 13th and Hellraiser were great. I pretend the rest never happened.

I actually thought the original Friday the 13th was really bland. Better than the others for sure, but it's still terrible. The "reboot" almost compares, but even that sucks ass.
The first Saw is great, II and III are both good (in my opinion), and I don't think Saw IV and V are as bad as everyone makes them. I think some people find it so easy to hate on the Saw series because it's so popular, but the audiences seem to love them, hence the reason they all have remained consistently successful and VI will probably follow suit.

umm...you don't get out much or watch must TV, do you? (Yes, there is a Saw VI. I don't care for Saw at all but I am peripherally aware of its existence).

Kwaidan was odd. It was too slow to be shocking, but the horrifying moments were supposed to be shocking. I guess it works more as a disturbing thing, something that'll scare you when you're up at night a week later.
I saw Paranormal Activity too. Was unfortunately let down. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of tension and suspense, but nothing aside from that. There was virtually no story, sans the random plot point they threw in five minutes before the end. I watched one of the original endings, since I hear there's about three of them, and I think it's a lot better than the theatrical one. (Check Wikipedia if you're curious.) Noroi and Blair Witch are still better in the homemade movie department. At least it was better than The Last Broadcast. Not the mention better acted.
Long story short: it was scary, but there was nothing at all to make it memorable.
Either Cat in the Brain or Happiness of the Katakuris tonight. I wanted to watch the latter with friends, but seeing as how they're all busy all the time...

Paranormal has one of the best marketing a horror movie has ever gotten.

I watched Resident Evil and Blade: Trinity last night (they were on TV. House was not on (stupid american government and their stupid "addresses")). I didn't finish watching RE because my wife got spooked. I can't even remember how it ends.
