HELP WITH VARIABLES

Is there any way to have a common event constantly check a hero's level (parallel process) and have it so that when a hero levels up, it adds +1 to a variable without having it constantly loop? I'm pulling my hair out on this one. Please help.

I'm using RM2k3.

There might be other ways around this. What are you planning to use this for?
If the hero only gains experience through battle, you could have a switch turn on at the beginning of battle that causes an after battle common event to be ran, checking levels in it and then turning the switch off.
@Solitayre: I found a huge bug in the system I was making where the hero would recieve 1 skill point after he levels up but it kept on increasing continuosly.
