HOW DO YOU GUYS FEEL ABOUT POP PUNK?
Posts
I know that everyone seems to hate pop punk because they are "corporate sellouts and pussy punk rock wannabes" but, come on, pop punk is worth a try.
For me, I love pop punk because of its catchy songs and sometimes comedic lyrics.
Some of my favorite bands are Screeching Weasel, early blink, and early Green Day. Oh, and the Ramones.
Hate it? Love it? Post it here.

does bowling for soup count as pop punk? because i fucking love bowling for soup.
Sure, bowling for soup can be considered pop punk! (I like their punk rock 101 mv, its so cliche lol)
I don't really know what pop punk is. But I like a fair bit of punk (it might be pop I don't know). Mostly Swedish "trallpunk". It's all from the 90s though because that's when I listened to that stuff. (and that's when it was pop)
And some earlier.

Blitzkrieg Bop!
Hey Oh! Let's Go! Hey Oh! Let's Go!
I was listening to a Green Day song on the radio the other day. I couldn't tell if it was from their new album or the one from 1996. I guess if you had a successful style you stick with it...
I grew up in the 90s. So what I like was called Alternative, which was a big dumping ground for a lot of music styles. Frankly, the explosion of genres these days confuses me. "We're nu Metal Punk Jazz rock!" Gah. It's like every band has it's own genre.

This...
...is what I usually consider everything that can't immediately placed into one of the upper tiers of music (rock, metal, etc.) And, yeah, I like alternative stuff as, well.

whoa, yeah, his pop/punk soundtrack to bladerunner was amazing
Cartel is kind of a guilty pleasure. Yellowcard too. It's the sort of music that sounds really good the first time you hear it, but gets progressively worse and worse the more you listen. I think that's pop punk maybe?
I outright hate punk in general, pop or not. geodude's got the right idea, new wave is cool sauce because thats arose at a time where those involved with the punk scene actually became decent musicians, because you know, musicanship matters imo. ;P
post=105358Pfft. Real musicians do like Sleepy Sleepers did. Whenever someone started to learn the instrument they were playing they switched intruments.

and their hit Summer Moped from 1979 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtniVZkD_Ik (reached nr.1 on the Finnish charts. If that's not pop punk I don't know what is)
EDIT: Man... Punk is really the only kind of music worth anything.
