ANYONE HERE FROM THE ATLANTA AREA?
Posts
I'll be traveling down to Atlanta for some training on November 30th and will be there until Friday, December 4th.
Are there any special local "rules" that I should be aware of? For example, I know that in Philly they have some retarded method of ordering a philly cheesesteak that you have to adhere to or you'll get thrown out of town. Anything akin to that in Atlanta?

Say hello to Dorothy Sbornak for me, will ya?
I've been to Atlanta a few times, there are no special rules there. Just don't talk to the cops. Or kill somebody before 3 PM. ^-^

Well, it's 'down South', in USA terms. People from the southern US place a large emphasis on manners and politeness and such. They're not going to MURDER YOU if you're impolite, but it's definitely more polite than it is up North. Also, Atlanta has a lot of black people, and I say this because Canadians have this weird thing where some of them have never seen a black person until their teens and that is just so crazy to me. Anyway, I remember I knew some guy who went there and he was like "SO MANY BLACK PEOPLE" and it freaked him out. I found it absolutely hilarious.

No joke. Even now I can only think of like 2 black people that I am friends with (in person). Not because I'm some sort of racist but simply because there are like none here where I live.
SO MANY WHITE PEOPLE.

Yes, those are people from small towns. You have them in the US, as well. I like how Americans think Canadians are magically different than they are because... of... ???
There are black people everywhere in Toronto! Although Canadian black people do tend to be different than American black people. I think, like most groups in Canada, they are less insular than they are elsewhere in the world.
We all have to huddle together for warmth in our igloos and while we're riding our dogsleds to work, so we all get along.
Hardly any black people in Vancouver, and they were very different culturally than the African-Americans I met. . Meeting my first African-American person was more of an experience than I thought it would be. Seemed like he was from a completely different culture than I was.
So, I am going to be Atlanta all next week. I fly in Sunday afternoon (the 29th) and leave early Saturday morning (the 5th). I will be in training all day. I'll be in a hotel around the (I think) Perimeter Mall on the north end of the city.
So I am in Atlanta now. Nice weather, friendly people, and though there are SO MANY BLACK PEOPLE it doesn't phase me next to SO MUCH SPANISH which I don't speak or understand at all, plus there is SO MUCH BOOTY. The waist-to-ass ratio here is amazing.
I love booty.
