I can understand some people not liking Borderlands, but how can you call it terrible? It may have a lax story, multiplayer issues, and the same repetitive nature that every Diablo-style game has, but the core gameplay is solid. I bought it expecting a Diablo FPS with a Fallout setting, Borderlands did not disappoint.
Read some of the more down to earth reviews and impressions. I'm not having this conversation for the 9000th time.
Wow, you're right! I just read a bunch of negative reviews of the game and I completely changed my mind. Borderlands is complete shit. I was just deluding myself when I was having fun with this game. ET for the Atari 2600 was a better game. Thank you so much for opening my eyes!

Pro Tip: I don't care what you think of Borderlands.
However, if Arcan is still considering it; I'll go over some quick details and factual comparisons.

As far as my opinion is concerned, Borderlands itself does many, many things very sloppily. Starting with the engine itself; it shares the same loagey space jumpey crap feeling that the Halo games have. Right out of the box you need to alter .ini files in order to get the game running to preferable specification (IE: Skipping the intro logos, turning off mouse smoothing, fixing the FoV). The UI itself; while functional, is nothing to write home about either.
Gameplay wise: its monotonous. It doesn't encourage teamwork in the slightest, classes themselves suffer from stifled and hackneyed talent trees, the AI garbage, bosses cannot be re-fought, level and quest disparities make it difficult to play with friends / randoms unless you do EVERYTHING together. Combined with the hoopla you have to go through to set up an online game, and the level / quest disparities that make playing with people difficult; it's almost like the game doesn't want you to play with other people.
Did I mention the final boss in this game can be killed by standing behind a pillar and shooting? No?

Having recently played Diablo II myself; I can safely say that this game shares none of it's positive traits. It lacks depth, it lacks polish, it doesn't even have any anti cheating safeguards.
Alright, fair enough. I just had a problem with you trashing the game in response to a prospective buyer and then not providing information to back the statement up.
I'll also say if you want a grind/loot fest, you're better off getting Torchlight for $10.

Alright bro im in, downloading TF2 now.
I'm just hoping that no one buys Counter-Strike: Source.
It's filled with cheaters, and ranting 5 year-olds who cheat.

Sounds like you're playing it.
Man this game is tough for me 'cause I never play first person shooters.
