Y'know, the NO DEDICATED SERVERS, NO CONSOLE, 9v9 ONLY, FINAL DESTINATION thing? This means no mods, custom maps or anything of the like. Also, matchmaking sucks.
This also means that every version of the game will have to buy map packs because IW/Activision has 100% control.
Even though I wasn't planning on getting it for PC anyway, this still pisses me off because Activision/COD are incredibly popular and have a lot of influence on the industry, so a lot of companies might end up following because "Hey, MW2 sold well, it MUST be good!".

I'm very disappointed and feel that this just contributes to the whole idea that "PC gaming is dying". Of course it isn't really. But I stay away from all games that have a console version nowadays because I've been burned enough times to know that although the console reviewers will rave about a game it just won't be as good on the PC.
On the other hand I'm not as outraged as perhaps I should be. Mostly because I've already seen the PC get shafted so many times that it doesn't even bother me anymore. (It helps that I didn't play CoD4 and didn't become part of that whole thing)

I'm not too concerned provided that my reaction is "oh no shitty modern FPS rehash 2 doesn't look all that great"
However I am concerned about dedicated servers. I started online gaming since the HL1 deathmatch days and dedicated servers have always been a huge thing for me. Changing the gravity, rat maps, modified weapons, changed speed, annoying quake/unreal sound effects. Granted some people just want to play normal rules with normal rotation (I know I do in TF2 nowadays) but dedicated servers were a way of choice and once in awhile servers who feature custom maps allow me to try something new and have fun. I don't think John Carmack has any say in gaming anymore since he's nothing more than a graphic whore who just happened to make the first FPS.

L4D's matchmaking isn't all that bad. It still runs on dedicated servers allowing for mods and all that, and servers belonging to steam groups your in show up on a list, so it's not as dumbed down as IW.net will be. I do agree though that it wouldn't be all that nice in a different type of game.
To be honest I think Warcraft 3 had it right, or as close to right as it's gonna be. Matchmaking for ranked matches and a list for custom games so you can choose what you want if ya just want to fuck around (though now you don't really have much choice as it's all DOTA).

That is fucken awesome.. So trying that out some time. I'll be playing this on Thursday, which would be wednesday for you americans. I'm more interested in the campaign and co-op mode then the actual online.

Tau, i think you should pirate it if you're just in it for the single player.
I don't really plan on hacking my 360 anytime soon. Plus I prefer to play co-op with my mates on a TV then on a PC.. Mainly because I suck at PC shooters for some reason.

Fuck this game is insane. Got 30 seconds in the training so that is Veteran recommended difficulty. But I still suck at shooters so I decided to go through it on regular first then come back to Veteran later. So far this game does not disappoint. The shear rush of some of the missions in this game is.. Fucken awesome. Apparently it's pretty short though.
Presentation wise this game has some pretty detailed environments and the AI has definitely stepped up. They flank you, take cover, sick dogs on you, etc. Also seems they took a bit of Uncharted 2 tactics in elevation of enemies and what not.
The game is just non stop actions and the Spec-Ops mode is a cool addition to the game.

I wouldn't bother with the single player. It's 4 hours long, has a story that really goes nowhere, and there is almost too much action. There are a lot of "wow" moments, but MW1 was better at pacing and story.
Multiplayer is obviously addicting. But devs are pushing to turn the pc market into the console market (pc gaming dying lol). I personally would have gotten the PC version if it was like MW1. The multiplayer just isn't the same when you aren't in a good community. And Xbox live is terrible. =(

I was ready to plop down 59.99 for this game well before this whole clusterfuck started. I'm not in the habbit of paying more for less, neither do I enjoy being indirectly called stupid by Infinity Ward. Oh noes, the server browser is too hard for me to use ; srsly helap plz.
