I've posted my OSTs here twice before, and now I've just finished my 3rd with a whopping 42 minutes of music. I've put a ton of work into these songs and I hope you appreciate them.

I listened to your OST for Speak No Evil, and found it to be quite dreadful. This is much better, though.
uh...thanks guys for your comments.

Uh...not to be pushy but...
Monster Ritual: Sounds pretty good. The percussion seems to cut out a little too suddenly at the beginning (feels like it should have some reverb I guess). There were also some times where it was maybe too calm. Otherwise, it's a pretty solid piece.

Battle Ritual: Big fan of this one. High pace, solid back beat, and overall it sets the mood. Very climatic at times as well.

Boss Ritual: The majority of the piece is very fitting. However, at times, it loses it's 'pump' feeling, and thus, it feels more like a danger theme, or the like. I feel it needs to stay more like the majority of it, and stop slowing down, etc. Having said that, the slow parts are incredibly well done, they just don't fit the theme of a boss fight.

Lady's Honor: Very fitting to the title. It sounds great, and immediately creates imagery of an honorous moment to the listener. Reminded me of some earlier Final Fantasy music, to be honest. I did not like the part at :129, however. It took away my image, and put something more daring, or troubling in mind. However, I have not seen where this fits into your game, so I can't say much there.

Conquerer Chieftain: Very good, solid song. The slap bass did become a little repetitive, but otherwise, this song was great. The change at 1:36 flowed nicely, and gave a break from that same bassline, however. No other comments aside from that.

Hunter Chieftain: The beat and energy to this song is great. I loved the percussion involved as well. However, the techno-esque sounding drum at the beginning didn't really fit to me. When there are multiple going, it sounds great, but the one running consecutive quarter notes felt very out of place. Something more traditional might have sounded better.

Divine Chieftain: Well done, gospel type piece. It started rather slow, but I'm sure it would feel much better in game. The energy afterwards is great, especially if used in a boss fight.

Lover Chieftain: A lot of this song sounded a little bit too random for me. Some of the notes didn't feel right together, and some just stuck out too much. There was also a lot of 'blank space' where it felt like an additional instrument should be playing. Otherwise, pretty good.

The Great Adversary: The intro to this one was great... right up until the marching portion first started. For a while, it sounded almost comical. However, the marching part does develop, and eventually, this piece sounds awesome and powerful, which is good to hear.

Clan of Famine: The first and second set of music box notes do not seem to compliment each other very well. The second set seems to have one odd sounding note that stick right out. It sounds alright, but no more than that.

Clan of Woe: Definitely flows much better than the previous song. The notes are all complimentary, and nothing makes you want to tear your hair out. It sounds great, and sets a good mood.

Clan of Wrath: Very mood setting, quite powerful. There are times where the song once more feels like parts cut out very quickly. The instrument attacks and vanishes quickly, but otherwise sounds good. It becomes much more powerful as it progresses, which may be good or bad, depending on how it was used.

Clan of Pride: Very nice ambient sounds in the back (harp, strings, etc). I found this song was great in some places, and just alright in others.

Warrior's Lodge: I find that the 1 and 3 notes of the song are a little too heavy. While I imagine you were going for that 'bouncy' feel, I think it could have backed off slightly, so that it was more of a slight accent, and not a jump. Otherwise, very friendly, almost cute song. Reminds me a little of Pokemon games.

Lurking Malice: Great intro, especially percussion wise.Lots of buildup and excitement, and plenty going on. The transition to the calmer portion was a little rough, but was otherwise well done. Overall, the song gets a good pumped feeling out of the listener, and was very well done.

Flickering Hope: The song itself is good, but it feels like it is between styles little bit, and I don't really feel the title in the music. It seems almost more of an overcoming type song (character dies, other's are sad, but must continue, etc.) As stated originally though, the song is great.

Depressing Sadness: Very mood-setting, and rather well done. You made the right choice in leaving percussion out of this piece, and because of such, it sounds as it should. Perhaps a little empty, but otherwise great.

Fate is to be Discarded: I wasn't a big fan of this one. The song jumps around quite a bit to me, and is just somewhat average. I might have a different opinion if I had seen/heard it in the game instead. The midpoint of the song is pretty good, however.

Main Theme: While this song was pretty good, it didn't really stick out as a main theme, nor do I think it was good enough to be the main theme. Many of your other songs were considerably better than this one, so it seems wrong that it is the one known as the 'main' song. However, it is rather good, and does set a good mood.

Overall: The soundtrack is quite good, and definitely will set your game apart from others. Most of the songs set the mood well, and are climatic, with high amounts of energy. I hope you continue making music like this, and perhaps invest in getting some VSTi's to make it sound even more awesome.

A couple of things to work on: Some of the dynamics of your music, such as fall-off of notes. Too often do you have notes cut out, leaving blank space, creating an almost awkward moment. Otherwise, your music is awesome.

There is the feedback you have been wanting :D. God this took forever.
Monster Ritual - Sounding good =) If anything, especially with the power of the percussion, I'd try for a more powerful bassline. I don't know if you have a bass guitar in there (acoustic maybe, if anything?), but a low electric bass can really drive this tune.

Battle Ritual - I like some of the harmonic coloring in this song's soft spots (starting at 1:22). Gives me a SoM kinda vibe (I consider that quite the compliment, too). The driving parts are kept simple, draws more attention to the action.

Boss Ritual - It seems like this tune wants to go somewhere, but doesn't really ever get there. The theory behind it seems all right, though, sounds boss-y, driving.

Lady's Honor - Does the job, sounds nice, hard to find more to say =) A more sentimental chord progression sneaks in there around the minute mark, but never really manifests (plus the snare is driving through it), then back to the works. I like the change at 1:29, I don't see a problem with it fitting the rest. The snare going throughout prevents me from getting too comfortable with the atmosphere earlier on, so anything goes.

Conqueror Chieftain - Well, the vibraphone is certainly contrasted from the slap bass/percussion backdrop. The vibes later on in the song definitely remind me of SoM, and the jazz line its playing adds character.

Hunter Chieftain - Sounds like jRPG fare. Simple melody, chord progression, mechanical percussion. Doesn't really try to do anything different or break new ground. Still, very competent.

Divine Chieftain - Atmosphere is as easy as church organs =) Sounds like you were careful with this before the change in tune; stick with the scales, don't break away. New melody sounds like techno version of Mary had a Little Lamb =) Lots going, energetic, as goes with techno.

Lover Chieftain - Now this is much more interesting that previous tracks. Lots of playing around with dynamics I think really gives this song character. Key changes, which I haven't heard for a few songs. I have to disagree with myers on this one, this is one of your better tracks I've encountered so far. At the end, I love this song!

The Greatest Adversary - This adversary sounds like he ought to be an interesting character. If I had to crudely say what I envision, it would be the dwarven kingdom in FF4 and some battle occuring. After the march, back to the comfort of simple melodies and progressions. Change in percussive style, still playing it safe with melody. Besides its unique parts, not too diverse from other tracks.

Clan of Famine - Interesting instrumentation. Music boxes do sound pretty mournful. Repetitive after a while, but good atmosphere.

Clan of Woe - Sounds VERY FF-inspired. FF7 pizzas, and the harp backdrop. Atmosphere is there.

Clan of Wrath - Bass line sounds inspired by Altepa Desert in FFXI. Getting more interesting than previous songs. Much more dynamic, liking that. Because you don't emphasize melodies very much, I think that the dynamics and key changes are what makes a lot of your music stand out from the rest.

Clan of Pride - Started to play with progression in this one it seems =) I'm iffy about it, heart was in the right place, but I never felt the connection between each part of the progression, or a comfortable return to the root chord. It's definitely more unique, which is welcomed, so it will stand out, although confusing.

Warrior's Lodge - Very folky; perhaps it was a relief to get assigned a nice, solid atmosphere like this =) Sounds like you were able to concentrate on other aspects, and it comes together very nicely. I'd say this is one of the most melodically interesting pieces while being able to maintain a consistent setting. Definitely higher-ranked.

Lurking Malice - Back to the melody/progression safety net. Escalation is nice before it all drops out. More focused on the melody, but it's moving against a pretty tame backdrop. Could definitely use some backup.

Flickering Hope - Sound like something out of a Bishoujo game =) I kinda agree with myers on this one; it's more atmospheric than it is representative of emotions or event portrayal. I don't get the feeling that there are ashes from which this hope arises. It's put together very well though, the right instruments are there. You know sound you were going for, and you got it.

Depressing Sadness - The title of this one is very to the point, and set expectations of what I should be hearing. Doesn't sound like this type of song is your strong point, or just bores you =) While the darker, minor tones are there, the melody and progression are VERY cookie-cutter. The idea is there, but the song is bereft of sentiment. It doesn't sound like you wanted to make this song.

Fate is to Be Discarded - From the start, I am definitely given the vibe that higher powers are working. A hint of what almost sounds like it could have been a theme creeps in. I think you did a good job with keeping bass notes at bay while the upper spectrum builds. Another shift in tone in the middle (happy to hear the snare drop out). A very nice piece, even if it seems that it never reaches some goal it's heading toward.

Main Theme - Like Myers said, you never get enough of a solid foundation to relate this as the main theme. It sounds like "title screen atmosphere." Nothing really wrong with that, since I know you don't emphasize melody in your music, just always feels like a wasted opportunity.

Overall: I can't remember enjoying your previous soundtracks this much (not to say they weren't good). Seems like a few songs got quite a bit of attention, and a large amount got generic melody/progression treatment (can't blame you, you come up with so much music so fast). Overall consistency seems off because of it. Talent is definitely not an issue. Great job =)
Forgot to ask: Why are these songs MP3's, when it sounds like it is all midi instrument?

Forgot to ask: Why are these songs MP3's, when it sounds like it is all midi instrument?

When I posted midis in the past people complained that their midi cards didn't work and midis can be screwy in RM2k3 sometimes, so I figured it'd just be best to have them as MP3's so everybody can listen to them as I listen to them.
I never heard of anyone saying midi get screwed in rm2k3.
Hey Relyt, here's a breakdown of my impressions from this OST:

First of all, as a general note, it's cool how you start with a theme and build upon it. This even works with the loop because when you've built it up, returning to the primary theme drops it back down, doubles the anticipation, and adds intensity. This was clear in a lot of what I liked in my own OST. That said, I'll get into some specifics.

Clan of Famine: Good ambient stuff. Feels like I'm exploring a desolate and forsaken town.

Clan of Woe: My favorite part was at around 1:15 when the main harp instrument dropped out and changed up the feel. Definitely feels sorrowful.

Clan of Wrath: Reminded me in middle like sort of Chrono Trigger jungle beat. Very cool.

Clan of Pride: My least favorite song of this bunch. It seemed all over the place. A lot of interesting ideas but I didn't feel like they were very cohesive.

Warrior's Lodge: Feels like a warm and safe place to meet, shop, rest etc. Very good for what it is.

Lurking Malice: I really enjoyed this piece, but it's hard for me to think of a case where this would suit a scene of “lurking malice.” Lurking malice seems like it should be more ambient, less upbeat.

Flickering Hope: I liked this one and I could definitely imagine its application. The instruments were well chosen.

Depressing Sadness: I could imagine this song after a tragedy in town. Simple, but effective.

Fate is to be Disgarded: Very intense and interesting one, and I liked it a lot. Sounds like it was tailored to a very specific series of events. First, it seems like a judgment has been declared and then marching orders have been given. I would very much like to see what this was set for.

Main Theme: Did not like the first 45 seconds very much, the drums and progressions seemed too random. But the build-up and climax at 0.45 was awesome and the music after was epic and sweet.

Monster Ritual: Really cool. It's got a good tribal sound. Fades to the background sometimes, then comes back and makes a statement.

Battle Ritual: Starts a little slow, heats up a little more toward the middle, but still doesn't seem intense enough for a battle track if that's what this is.

Boss Ritual: Epic and great. This is a really good boss track. Doesn't get exciting until later, but it's perfect for an important fight.

Lady's Honor: Good music before a battle or adventure. I really get the sense that characters are being driven by some purpose.

Conqueror Chieftain: I don't really like the high keyboard sounding in the first 3rd of the song. The synth that replaces it later is much better. When the keyboard comes back for the jazzy last half, it's quite good.

Hunter Chieftain: The steady rhythm gives a sense of pursuit. This is probably my favorite of this set. Excellent piece.

Divine Chieftain: The organ part is very well done, definitely a good pick for the Divine Chieftain, however, when the organ drops out, that synth that I dislike comes back in. Not so bad with the organ at the finale, but when it's all exposed like that, it grates on me.

Lover Chieftain: Upbeat piece, some nice rhythmic stuff, lots going on, but nothing to complain about.

Great Adversary: Interesting piece, it fits the rest of the set nicely.

I know these comments are all over the place, but it was whatever came to mind while I was listening to the playlist. Hope it was what you were looking for.

This was actually meant for the standoff between your party and bosses before a fight.

This tune actually wasn't meant for any specific scene. All that ChaosProductions told me was that he wanted a thematic song with lots of highs and lows that would fit inside and outside of battle. My interpretation of what the songs story ended up being as follows.

0-40 = Set up. Something's gonna go down.
40-1:06 = The inside of a castle throne room. The newly wed prince and princess stand bowing to the roaring crowd.
1:06-1:31 = The evil witch of night enters and declares her campaign against the new King and Queen.
1:31-1:51 = The new King and the Evil Witch battle it out
1:51-2:01 = In slow motion, the King shoves his sword through the chest of the Evil Witch
2:01-2:14 = The witch falls, the King stands up, and the crowd once again goes wild
2:14-2:47 = The witch's army, not knowing the location of their master, ravage the countryside
2:47-3:04 = The Kingdom falls into ruin and the Queen dies of illness.
3:04-End = The King, his Kingdom ruined, lays down and dies.
Definitely could see that. Cool set.
