This is Gravitation right? God what an awful animu. Like the Twilight of gay animus.
Yap. It's a classic.
My first anime was this:
Not in that language. It was in Swedish but I can't seem to find it in Swedish on youtube.
Of course I knew nothing about anime at the time. it was just another one of those really bad saturday morning cartoons that came on the state-sponsored channels before the Disney ones started on the commercial channels.
Speaking of Disney ones...
Those were in English and they were awesome. By the time the next generation of those came (Goof Troop and whatnot) they were dubbed into Finnish and were considerably less awesome.
Of course Disney is all good and well. But their shorts were the best. As were the Warner Brothers shorts (Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies).
But when it comes to stuff on the television that moves around I'd say the biggest thing was most likely...

FUCK YEAH!
I can't even watch this low quality thing on youtube without tearing up a bit.
FUCK YEAH.
See how mainstream I am? Not anything weird in it at all. Though I could probably find something more local that was cool backinthedays too.

Lesson XX is the only one I can stand. Gravitation is this: Shuichi pursues Yuki, whines, declares his love, cries, puts on girl's school uniform. Yuki rejects him, insults him in monotone, but then has sex with him anyway. Then they all sing really bad J-Pop. Repeat for 13 episodes.
Wait woah Powerstone was a show? I remember I had a lot of fun with the games.
Also, Roald Dahl books, The Cricket in Times Square (which I really ought to reread soon) and Stewart Little. I recall being really freaked out by The Pagemaster.

Also, Roald Dahl books,
Damn I almost forgot about those. Those were huge too. But of course not as huge as Astrid Lindgren stuff. (Combined of course with all the TV and movie adaptations of Astrid Lindgren's work!)
Actually disregard all the crap I said in my previous post. Only Lindgren counts from now on until I remember what else counts.
post=108751post=108722I dare you to try watching it again. The newer animated one (not the even newer CG one) is a much better show than the original TMNT. I picked up the old series and tried to watch it again and it was extremely painful. The worst part of all is Shredder isn't the badass you thought he was when you were 4-years-old, but is instead a comic relief goofball that's poorly written and animated.
(golf clap)
The only TMNT series worth watching, the old one. =)
I've been watching it with my nephews actually and I can't help but wear a shit eating grin on my face. I'm still in love with the show, even if it isn't as great as it used to be. The new one was kind of cool though.
You all must be much older than I, or perhaps I just didn't watch enough anime as a child. I haven't the faintest of what you all are talking about...

Haven't seen that one.
Gravi is okay. Nothing impressive, really, but it is a classic memorable anime for the BL fans born in the 90s. It also does a fine job of establishing some of the current cliches.
I think the only one I can't stand is Enzai. GAH.

Nickelodeon cartoons.
this, and the super mario brothers cartoon.
I loved the good old days when I got my first SNES when I was 3. I had so much fun playing Batman Returns, Donkey Kong Country 1&2, Mega Man X, Super Mario World, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter II, The Lion King, Toy Story, Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 3, and many more. The classics never die!
Also, I miss the simplicity of computers and the internet back when I used to have my first website with Homestead.com (when it was free). I'd kill just to relive those days one more time.
