NEED CUSTOM MUSIC?

Posts

Pages: first 12 next last
As of 8/23/10, I'm free to compose.

Hi. I wanted to know if anyone would like/need custom music for their games? I've been writing and composing music for almost 8 years now and I've got the software and knowledge to write a full game score.

I don't require any monetary payment (outside of sold VX games), only credit and contact links in any advert that may mention the custom music and especially the games credits.

For composing, I use:

Anvil Studio
Guitar Pro 5.2
REAPER
Acoustica Instruments
EDIROL Orchestra
EZDrummer/Drumkit From Hell (if needed)

I also have been playing guitar for the same amount of time, mainly studying heavy metal, so any action scenes would be easy and heavy.

And, I really would like to score an entire game. So, serious projects (ongoing with progress, or almost finished) would be more likely to get a response.

A couple examples of my work:

EDIT: Thanks much for the youtube tag! Every forum is different. Finally got it working though.

Your stuff is pretty awesome, judging from the youtube links. I may be talking to you in a little bit.
Holy balls. You're pretty good.
Hell yeah, man. Check my game out, (http://rpgmaker.net/games/1295/) I already have ideas for tracks I need in mind. Your samples sound great and I'd love to work with you.
I would love to recruit you for my game team but alas, I am still in early development of the game. Anyways you're an awesome composer.
guitar pro 4 is just as functional and less buggy
I've accepted an offer from one team, have plans for a second and might talk to a third project. I'll be sticking around maybe posts some articles on game programming or music design.

I'll also be posting random MIDI's that have no home.
Hey, a word from a fellow composer:

Maybe you could try to create a recognizing melody.
In most pieces the music is really some random instruments playing accords and stuff.. even though there is a melody in the music, the melody isn't catchy.. (like the ones that can get stuck in your head for some while)

The atmosphere you create is quite impressive though. I would love to hear a battle music from you, as you seem to work quite fine with percussion and drums. =)

Of course. However, the samples I provided were two songs I wrote inspired by two girls (if you have the skill, do that. Major points.) And the first was a song based off of parts of my life through musical interpretation. Also, it was mainly written as a score. Now, my music for games has a different approach when I write.
yeah that's what i meant, arrange.
Welcome to RMN, HeartlessEntity =)

Thanks for sharing some of your samples. I hope you don't mind getting opinions on them. I can see what JoePie means, although it's pretty vague to say, "create a recognizable melody." I can hear melody lines that would work as themes if they were rooted appropriately with a solid bass line. Then, as you say, they can be reiterated as you hear them now in different parts of the score. I'd be very interested to hear such themes if you end up scoring a game for someone.

Speaking of scoring points with girls, I owe my wife a song some day, and she's not going to let me forget about it ;)

In the mean time, post more, post everything. I love listening to music submitted by RMNers.

Ah, i did not know these samples weren't used for games.
That's quite alright. I have to say, though. I'm having a bit of fun composing for Team Cascade. It's a bit of a challenge, though. The game that they're making requires a very fitting soundtrack and molding the music to fit it is a very concentrated effort.

Also, for the time being, to fulfill my obligations to them, I won't be composing or remix anything until I'm done. Sorry guys. But, wait to you play the game. You'll really enjoy it if I can do the job I'm hoping I can.

I would like to hear said music for games especially when considering you for composing music for games. Especially the carrying a melody part. It all sounds like random phrases to me.

Personally, I can sure put random harmonies and musical elements together, but my biggest problem is that it's very difficult for me to put a defined melody to a particular song. It always comes out random and/or horrible.
I'll try uploading some of my old stuff later. I'm too busy to compose anything new as an example and, even if rejected by the team, any tracks I've written for Chromatose may give away the style they wish to convey.
So, I've recently started writing game music again. I've been inactive in the past months due to: a new job, two new bands, upgrading my home music studio and touring/playing shows. However, the call of writing music is upon me again.

So, I'll show you a few things again. The first two are theme written for a game. I advise a full listen to each before criticizing (which is welcomed) as they were written to others specifications. The third one is something I wrote after looking at pictures of the middle east and though, "What would I want a middle eastern game level to sound like?"

It's really just one movement as it was a test of new software that I bought. Comments? Requests? (As before, I'd prefer an almost complete game that is willing to share screenshots/demos/LOTS of information where music is concerned.) I also do sound effect design and a bit of hardcore RM2K3 programming.)

Wow, your stuff is quite excellent!

Let's see...if you haven't already been retained, at present I have a game project (the first episode with ~2 hrs. play time of an episodic game, To Arms!) that is practically complete. My composer just quit on me after completing only one of a dozen tracks for the OST. I'd love it if you could pick up where he left off. I have placeholder tracks in place as guidelines for how to shape the music for each scene and location. The game itself is also more or less complete and ready to play. The OST is practically the only thing missing. Time constraints aren't totally non-existent but they will be very reasonable. The game's final release/build has already been delayed a long time because of the OST and other issues. I'm willing to work closely with you as far as the music is concerned and everything else is there for you to see, but at the same time I'm not picky...if you can come up with something with the same feel as the placeholder tracks, that definitely meets my requirements. I also have a pretty excellent track record of releasing a prolific amount of RPG Maker games over the many years I've been doing it.

Check it out and PM me if you are interested (it's Episode One you want to download, the prototype is a much earlier build). If not I will go ahead with my (original?) Plan B of completing the game without an OST.

I look forward to hearing from you.
