They've ported the Left 4 Dead 1 maps into Left 4 Dead 2.

"The original four campaigns are now for download in two flavors - an "Original" that preserves it exactly as you remember, and a "Modified" version that adds the new melee weapons, new guns, new Infected, and the special Daytime lighting of L4D2."

I've played the modified version of No Mercy already and I can definitely say that it's legit and works well. C'mon guys, get on this. It's pretty cool.
In other words, there's literally no point to playing L4D1 now? (serious post, I haven't played LFD2 at all and only a bit of L4D1)
Literally bought L4D2 at Best Buy for $40 today. Best Buy is great for relatively new games. Too bad I didn't have money at the time when they were selling GOTY edition of Fallout 3 for $40 with all 5 addons :(. I'd totally get the maps if I have internet worth getting xbox live, on. Mmmmmm moving into my apartment with faster internet should get here sooner.
I was wondering first but then I clicked the link and saw that it was a mod, which probably makes it pretty awesome. (and also cannot upset all those L4D fans since it's fanmade and not something that Valve did)

I need to buy L4D2... Perhaps in the summer.

xbox live

I have some bad news for you...
You can download maps from Live without paying for the Gold membership. The only thing Gold does (I say only, but it's a big one) is allow multiplayer online. Everything else can be handled through a Silver account, which is free.

Of course, have fun playing L4D1 or 2 by yourself. It... loses something.

I know that. I was saying that these aren't official maps and won't be available for the 360 version.

Eh, I still play with friends in person, so I still get the multiplayer experience. I've played the first one a lot single player and I know what you mean. The computers could do exactly what people would do and it's just not the same.
