AUTHOR NAME BENEATH TITLE

As for the game listings, that might be something more probable.
I still support this idea. Names in the Games listing.

But again, I'll respect everyone's wishes and shut up if the issue just isn't coming through to you. It's not a big issue, by any means--very elementary--so I'll understand if the triviality of it all is what's undermining my points.

I strongly agree with the OP. For some reason I always have to search for a few moments to find the author's name. And when I do find it, it's usually in the form of a blog post attribution. That field is for whatever reason really, really incognito.

I have also read the subsequent pages of back-and-forth only very sparsely, so, fair warning there.
read: everything that AznChipmunk fellow said in this topic

edit: like having a game like this http://rpgmaker.net/games/1843/ list its authors all over the place
I'm the only one set up as lead on that project, so it'd be my name.
http://rpgmaker.net/games/1712/ this then, as I referred to before, as we are all "lead."

I sigh at you, good sir.

AznChipmunk uploaded the file? AznChipmunk's name listed. NO, AznChipmunk is not the leader (Jesus Christ...), but, um... AznChipmunk editing the gamepage? AznChipmunk's name listed. YEAH, OKAY, AznChipmunk is not the leader (for crying out loud...), but, err... AznChipmunk part of the team? AznChipmunk's NAME LISTED.

And for the record, putting the author's name beneath the title isn't the only way to go about this. If we all think outside the box, I'm sure we could come up with somewhere on the gamepage that would make one link nice, accessible and convenient. You guys found a place for the title itself, didn't you?

Oh, man, this is such a lost cause for no reason whatsoever.

...Newgrounds, submissions are a single page, and you have to scroll down to see the developers just like RMN. :)
Ho-ho, you gave me a good idea! Why not do like Newgrounds does and include avatars next to the names of the developers? You don't have to move your detail section anywhere, and I get to identify the developers the fast way: by face.

Compromise!

Or here's another idea: insert the avatars (scaled down by size, of course) below, next to, or somewhere near the title--I personally think it would be cool if the avatar was sitting on a black bar like the ones with the game's genre and engine. Also, you can stack 'em side-by-side, one atop the other--whatever--when there is more than one developer. This would work in the game listings as well.

Compromise B! Am I brainstorming or what?

I have no idea what you are saying... I would not want my name to be listed under the game. Everyone on the team does an equal amount of work--it is unfair for me to be singled out and listed under the game's name. I edited the gamepage, yes, but hmmmm so did tardis! Guess who wrote the descriptions? tardis. Guess who uploaded screenshots? YDS. All I did was submit the game and make a blog post, and clean a few things up. I would feel like a dick if I was the one receiving more credit than the rest of my team! Especially because my team is made up of people I am good friends with--I do not want Chromatose to be associated with just me. Befuddle Quest or whatever is clearly headed by kentona, and some of my projects are headed by me, but many of my other projects are teamwork projects in a similar manner--that we work as a team and all receive equal credit.

somewhere nice, accessible and convenient... hmmm... you don't think... maybe in that little details section box??!!?!?

wait a minute! there's an easier solution! you can just READ THE NAME
why would you have the avatar next to the name
especially because people like to pull jokes and people will use the same avatar ( http://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/32/locker/Dude.jpg ) There were at least 5 people using this same avatar for a few days.
And people like to change their avatars pretty often, so identifying people by face wouldn't work if someone changed it often! Which I like to do.

so

why not do like newgrounds does and scroll down to see the developers

this wouldn't work... not all avatars are the same size and scaling them down would look horrible, especially to a size that small. Especially animated ones would look like random flashing pixels.

Seriously, this is completely unnecessary. If you are too lazy or can't remember the developers' names, that 's not really our fault. And if it takes too long to scroll down tell people to stop abusing the summary section... or just use the pg down button.
I agree with azn, all of these suggestions are pretty useless and don't really add to any needed functionality. Also if you feel you yourself are 100% responsible for creating the game, then list yourself only and put special thanks or something in the description. Other than that, games are collaborative efforts, an interactive medium made by a creative collective. Stop focusing on who made what and notice which games are fun to play and learn from them.
I'm getting a headache. It feels like I'm arguing about putting the eraser next to the chalk and everyone in the class thinks I'm stupid because of it.

"Dude, we can put the eraser wherever we want, it'll still be there."

Okay, fine. I'll just leave it on the floor and go back to my seat. Thanks for shutting me down guys, I really feel the love!
That analogy is a gross oversimplification of this argument.
How is it hard to understand that A) The description area is perfectly fine, and B) There can be more than one person "leading" a project (think Knights Of The Round Table).

EDIT: Sorry if I got the point of this thread wrong but from what I can tell this is the issue.
KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE HOLY SHIT THIS TOPIC IS GOING PLACES

Because A is subjective and B was never the issue.
Is the name of developer that important that you need it right in your face all the time? (The answer is no)

No, the answer is it's convenient.
You know that one kid in elementary who covers his ears and goes "LA LA LA IM NOT LISTENING"...?

Nothing, just thought I'd bring it up for no reason.

(hint, the kid is iloveflash dont tell anyone)
LA LA LA LA--I'M NOT LISTENING--LA LA LA LAAA!!
Are you seriously so lazy that you can't use the scroll wheel or something
