I've heard of about.. 4 of those games and I've only played 3 of them. What happened Nintendo, you had us with your SNES RPG classics!

Now that's why I still liked the PSX even though the polygons could barely sit still for a few seconds. I didn't care when we got so many classics. It's got the beginnings of so many RPGs and continuations of some from the SNES.

Paper Mario is pretty much the best game ever.
Also N64 is pretty much the best console ever. (Not strictly referring to RPGs because I don't play too many RPGs.)
Paper Mario is pretty great. But even then, PSX was the better console. It pretty much trounced the N64 in every genre, EXCEPT the multiplayer experience. I'll give it that.
SNES was the best console ever, but that's beside the point.
I, too, missed out on the PS1/2 era of RPGs since I foolishly purchased an N64 thinking that Nintendo's excellent track record for RPGs would carry over to the next generation. How wrong I was.
Luckily, Super Smash Bros came out and all was forgiven.

Paper Mario is very mediocre in terms of being an RPG. The mechanics were way too simple, it feels like Super Mario RPG Digest. The most annoying part of any Paper Mario game is that it's not a Super Mario RPG game. I want to see Squeenix do another one.

Personally, every genre I make has RPG elements in it to some extent. I even designed (but never really made) a racing game with RPG elements.
