IN REGARDS TO THE SCREENSHOTS TOPICS

WIP, I'm curious what this new system you've got planned for screenshots. I'm thinking of something like the blogs page except for being the newest images uploaded to gamepages. I think something like this could help draw attention to gamepages instead of having to deal with the middle step of the old screenshot forums. Am I close at all?

Yes.

I feel the need to add to whatever is transpiring here that it is impossible for AFD to derail a topic by himself and blaming him for everything is ignoring the greater problem.

That said, he's still just about the most disruptive member imaginable and I have no idea why he is still here.

AFD did not start an argument on that thread by himself. I know for a fact a lot of members purposely antagonize him. He is also not the first to cause an argument on the screenshot topics, not even close. Multiple people contributed to the topic derailing, it has happened many times before, and that is why it was closed.

AFD is a problem member but banning him will not magically make everything rosy and beautiful again.

Uh, you're not referring to me and the religion topic are you? I have gotten into PM arguments with him too but I would say he antagonizes me.

Also, yes, screenshot topics suck because people tend to say "lol looks cool" or "lol too dark" or something, rather than give real feedback most of the time.

What transpired was the following, Soli, looking at the whole thing from a third-person's perspective.

1. AFD posts another of his YT videos showcasing his ABS. (Fine here.)
2. Wolf gives constructive criticism regarding aforementioned video. (Still good.)
3. AFD responds with a post borderline of defending his game, rather than actively discussing the issue. (The usual.)
4. Wolf proceeds to ask questions brought on by AFD's dodgy post, as well as respond to AFD's defense of his HUD. (Justified post.)
5. AFD responds with an flat-out defense and attack on Wolf for commenting overall negatively to the content shown. (Here we see things starting to go down.)
6. Kars berates AFD for his behavior. (Unneccesary as far as the screenshot topic goes.)
7. Ark asks AFD to use English properly. (Again, unneccesary as far as the screenshot topic goes.)
8. Kaempfer gives constructive critisicm of the HUD and asks AFD to show respect for his fellow forum user (and in this case an outright better programmer).
9. AFD angrily responds to Kars and brushes off Kaempfer's humble posts, ending with an attack on Wolf.
10: Chaos spams with stuff relating to Kars' beratement.
11. AFD copypastas his post. (wut?)

And the rest doesn't need mentioning. As far as I can see, this latest explosion was brought on by AFD's egoistic, "higher than thou" nature and Kars' and chaos' provocative post. Wolf was not to blame (even though his posts are the most prominent) as he was given the "eff u" from AFD upon trying to give AFD some well-intentioned advice.

Upon seeing the aftermath, people are frustrated on two crucial points that needs addressing:
1. AFD is still not banned for being the most disruptive member imaginable. Seriously, why?
2. A bullshit excuse to totally close down the screenshot topic. It's partially addressed by WIP, but his excuse of "it's been planned for a while" is shaky since no one outside of staff knew of it clearly.

I don't see what else the "greater problem" can be. I am not cutting out your ability to continually roam the seas of forever unfinished ideas.

just me? you give me too little credit, i wouldn't be saying anything if it wasn't at the very least a moderately popular opinion. we had a long IRC discussion on why AFD hasn't been banned yet and couldn't think of anything
