RPG MAKER 95 ENGINE PAGE + CATEGORY

Posts

Just to make sure the fires keep burning in this thread, the site is going to get to the point where it also won't accept submitted 2k or 2k3 games.

When? I need the exact year. 2020? I don't expect to still work with RPG Maker then... so I wouldn't care I guess.
Well, I guess it'd only be truly fair for him to wait for it to be truly obsolete, so not in the near future. At least not in the next 2/3 years I hope.
This is going places...
WIP doesn't accept RM95 games and that's that. Now die topic, die!

Look at it like this: be surprised I accept them today!

WIP was pressured by his most loyal userbase (the kentona's the brickroads the FAIFs etc...) to continue to support RM2k3.

You wouldn't throw we 2K/3 users out in the cold, harsh, non-rmn-world, would you WIP? *puppyeyes*

I'm retarded, is this sarcasm?

can't make a bad game if you don't finish any games

By the time it happens no one will be using 2k3 anyway (since it'll happen once people stop using 2k3. :\/)
I'd just worry about putting out whatever RM2k/3 games you (anyone, not just Chaos) have now before it happens. The Makerscore for the games still would count (I asked), but any NEW submissions would be denied.

As for older games (RM95 and earlier)? That's what our Lockers are for, I suppose.
I still think it's a little weird to try to "force" people to use a particular program. People should use whatever they feel most comfortable using, but I digress.
Wait someone's forcing you to use a program? What a horrible person!

No one is forcing anyone to do that. What will most likely happen though is that those who still use RM2k/3 will migrate somewhere else.

It's sinful! I'm sure there's a verse in the Bible or something that speaks out against this.

To oblivion.

But what that happens I'll be really grown and probably won't be using RM (or anything) at all.

I'll probably "migrate" to not releasing games on this site anymore then. I stand by my belief that this is the only good RM site in history.

I mean I really can't see myself using a newer maker anytime soon. Truthfully, they're actually too complicated for me, with higher resolutions I cant make custom graphics, and I cant make custom systems without learning fucking Ruby, so I'm helpless basically.

Actually yeah that is pretty bad
No I wasn't being sarcastic because you can still make rm2k/3/95 games regardless of RMN's acceptance, unless you really really really want maker score and e-popularity for it.

Funny, I believe I stated reasons that I don't want to adapt. Very legitimate reasons, to which I can add what I consider to be a very shitty resource system/limitations.

I guess we could submit them under the custom category but that probably wouldn't work out in the end.

does this even matter
Why don't we all stop freaking out about something that's at best according to our knowledge, a fuzzy future thing, and focus on the present, making games now?

Besides, another quote on the forum says;

In the future, people will be able to submit games of any engine to the site.

There's a certain competitor that comes to mind who would be glad to have all the 2k/3 refugees.

Well don't expect that to popup on the site until there is code to stop people from submitting games made with it. I don't want any RPG95 games on this site and I refuse to host them.

Why should you care if someone wants to use a maker to create a game that only a few people will be able to play? 80% of the games I download from this site already don't boot or work properly for one reason or another. It's not like RPG Maker (any of them) is the shining example of how to make a stable engine. I mean, personally I think all the RPG Maker engines kind of suck when compared to everything else, but that's kind of the point to this site in the first place.

I'm not sure if you can kind of understand where these people are coming from because when you gain the power to program and engineer computer software, you lose the ability to see the computer as a magic box that lets you play games, them fancy addin machines or what have you. But to these people there exists some sort of program that lets them make games while having very little idea of how computers even work.

Maybe shops should still sell NES games!
They still do!

This makes me want to submit a minigame written for the NES.
