RPG MAKER VISUAL SPRITE NOVELS

As one of my pet projects is a TV(Of a sort, anyways. I'm not a real fan of actual TV, seeing as you rarely chose the right channel and anything. Add this to the fact that you will be able to chose episodes, its more like Tivo on crack). I want to hear your opinion: What do you think about visual novels made in rpg maker, using either pictures or the classic sprites?
I'd recommend using pictures, as visual novels are heavily text based, and just boring text without some character pictures is bo-ring. Except if you voice the dialog, but I'm sure you won't.
Pictures are fine and are a classic example of visual novels, but with sprites you could have the characters act out their respective role. Look at "Maranda" if you will. It was a perfect example of a visual novel told through sprites, where you could see the characters actually convey the story with their movement and other sprite based actions.
On the other hand, pictures are the standard for most visual novels, like Tsukihime or Chaos;Head. So tell me then, is it wrong for us to make visual novels exclusively using sprites as actors? Or would it seem more natural for us to use pictures instead?

Really? I think that would be interesting.
Still, how do you think that would affect the actual story. Do you think the two styles can work together in unity?

Yeah, good idea Wolfie!
Use character pictures for longer non eventful convos and sprites for the dialogs with more 'action'. It's fine as long as they've got enough poses.

Sprites would work, but you have to really know how to use and coordinate them well; it's more 'show', than 'tell', compared to picture-based VNs.
I'd use both, though. Try to find a balance?

Character pictures and nice backgrounds are really all you need to make a VN. Most commercial VNs are fine with this because it's still lending you imagination (especially if it's a first person novel where you don't see the main character's portrait) while giving its animu fanservice flare.
RPGMaker cutscene theaters are an interesting story medium. However, RPGMaker cutscenes don't really lend itself much to imagination as you are detailing the entire location/characters/actions etc. through visuals so you might end up writing more dialogue over 'He walked over to the bench.' *charset walking to the bench*. So you'll probably have less writing to do. Either way, both are good choices. The only deciding factor would be whether or not you can or want to actually draw the characters/background for the former option.
Combining them? I'm not really sure. It'd work in a video game as you have general sprites for the gameplay then portrait cut-scenes for mission briefs or whatever. (Btw most VNs that have actual gameplay go with this). But what purposes does it have mixing them up storywise? Action isn't very exciting in RPGMaker cutscenes unless you are the James Cameron of Move Event/Picture. You can make just as interesting action sequences with good writing and badass illustrations/'effects' (Nessiah knows what I'm talking about). It just seems pointless to mix them up for the sake of it.

Hmm... But what if you only used sprites and had the pictures to create a more fanciful effect? I know in VX you can create zoom effects with some basic coding, so you could get over the special action effects if you needed to.
Have you seen the Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel? I think it handled battle scenes very well with all the moving pictures and stuff 'w')b
Actually, I'm going through the Heaven's Feel route right now. That is where I got the idea for making my own, as Nasu's previous entry: Tsukihime, was a lot slower in pace and scripting by far. I am wondering if the same type of action scenes can help sprite based visual novels on rpg maker.
