NOT SURE IF IM IN THE RIGHT SECTION BUT CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY THEY DECLINE GAMES, WHAT ARE SOME REASONS?
Posts
My game was declined and i dont really know why...i gave a description, many images of gameplay only thing i thought it might be was it was a Sonic game...but ive seen other Sonic games on here. Anyone know of the rules of a link to rules thanks.
Ok, I've just had a game accepted then denied a week later. Again no explanation given.
Quite frankly I'd settle for a "Sorry Dude, go fuck yourself." at this point.

it was a Sonic game....
Well theres your problem.
(Kidding, theres no rule against fangames)
I haven't had games declined. But I do think it would be nice if there was a PM sent out for the declined games with a simple reason why it wasn't accepted. (I can see some stock responses such as "not enough description" or "one of the three screenshots should NOT be the title screen" or perhaps "holy shit dumbass, this game looks horrible, please go away")
I too have had games denied for no reason. No reason, that is, apart from the crass irresponsibility that the Powers that Be seem to love exhibiting.
Magi, please start taking your job a bit more seriously, because most of us take our submissions very seriously. Thank you.

Well i gave them a PM and apparently he thought the game wasnt up to the standard...even though my game looks and plays tons better than the other Sonic game on here (come on now, the song game that was submmited didnt even have up and down sprites for Sonic ¬_¬) but oh well thats life init.
Instead of whining, accept that your game doesn't meet the standards this community sets for game design and improve. ;)

True but could somebody at least tell me WHAT to improve? That would help a lot. Right now people aren't being told anything.
Look at examples of some great games here for what to aspire to, at least. I suggest The Colony, Forever's End, Hero's Realm, Vision and Voices, for some examples.

The Colony doesn't have anything you can play that will set an example though, =P.
I'd suggest play http://www.velv.net/FFEN.html Final Fantasy: Endless Nova. It's not that great of a game, and it's a fangame (which I hate) but this game taught me everything about rpgmakers.

Whos whining? :S *confused* anyways i would 'improve' but thats this sites main failure. They decline games with no reason as to why...a nice little messege attached with a reason would be most helpful and im not being funny but there are a huge amount of terrible games on this site...some with 1-2 stars yet here they are in all there crappy glory. So don't say people are whining when all i wanted was an explanation as to why it was declined but thanks i guess, i know now this site isn't the right place for me...ill sign up on another where the communities actually helpful and nice =] cheers for reply anyways appreciate it.

You are most right about this.
Did you contact an admin? Did you contact Magi via PM? There may have been a misunderstanding with your game. Don't give up like this, it's definitely not cool.

To our netizens,
This decision/signing statement may also be known as BCB - Bad Content Ban. It is an addition to kentona's game and review submission rules.
The aforementioned game policy, while much more effective than our previous policy (if only because we didn't have one), had one glaring fault: as long as you met the basic criteria, we would approve your content, no exceptions. Ladies and gentlemen, that day is over.
Effective immediately, we will only approve content that we deem worthy. We reserve the right to reject your submitted content on the basis that it sucks. Only content that is believed to be of a certain level of quality will be approved by our moderation team, else they face the wrath of my future ex-wife.
What does this mean for the average user? Well, nothing really. This is not meant to be a form of censorship and we're not going to actively looking for reasons to deny your content. The vast majority of our users here generate decent enough discussion and submit good enough work. However, it does mean we will refuse to be a breeding ground for spastic noob submissions. Chances are if you're new to the rpgmaker scene, your first few submissions will be denied until you catch up to speed.
However, there won't be any "lol no" comments. We'll specify what is wrong and give you the opportunity to correct it.
Sincerely,
Robert Holbert I, The Conquerer

I actually enjoyed Endless Nova very much. It taught me a lot as well. Yeah, good advice; play that, it's old, but it's still pretty fun!
As a note, there was a bug preventing messages relating to denials from being shown. We always deny submissions with a reason why, so it was simply eaten by the bug.
