As we approach a new age of video game complexity, the idea that a single passionate gamer can create his or her own role playing game (RPG) seems more and more like a ridiculous dream. This has to change. Imagine a tool with a feature set that extends beyond that of any other RPG creation tool on the market, but also provides a way to use every single one of those features without having to learn a programming language. And to top it all off, it's free. Enter RPG Architect, the first game creation tool of its kind.

good luck with this, i guess! the map object thing sounds interesting and seems like it'd be a lot handier for custom graphics than trying to force it all into tilesets.

Looks like you've incorporated charas.ex into the engine itself. It has a lot of interesting features, but of course we've seen a lot of these projects come and go. Good luck.

edit: upon looking at your site, i see nothing but one terrible screenshot under the rpg architect section- it appears to be a bad gui for charas.ex...

Look at the site you are posting on. How is it even CONCEIVABLY the first RPG Creation tool of its kind? Arguably you could claim it was the first RPG Creation tool of its QUALITY or CALIBER but it really doesn't look that dissimilar from say, then 10+ year old RPG Maker series.

Thanks for commenting so quickly. I apologize for the lack of screen shots. This project was literally just started a few days ago, so there's not much real implementation done yet. The reason I created this thread at this point was to introduce the project to the community. I realize that there is not much content to view at this point, but I will keep updating the site as we progress through development.

The current screen shot that is posted is, of course, a prototype. It is only a piece of the much larger character builder tool.

All I ask at this point is to check back once in awhile to view any new content.

You praised it as 'The first RPG creation tool of its kind' but it's certainly not the first kind. There were ton's of, like the Minerva Project and the Pocket RPG Maker (actually on hiatus). Both teams had the same dream, but Minerva was 6 years in the work and the Pocket Maker ist only for pocket pc's.

It sounds hard but your project may not even survive the first month.

(I hope it isn't necroposting)
