CloseI have went ahead and replaced the old Game Genre system with Game Tags.
You can specify up to five tags for your game. The first batch of Game Tags you see are genre tags, which are more broad than the other tags. Most of the old genres were converted to genre tags.
Besides the genre tags, there are also things such as MULTI(multiplayer), DARK(dark), and thanks to geodude's pestering (thanks dude), multiple tags for sci-fi, futuristic, and so forth.
Post here if you run into any problems. Also yes the interface for them is crap right now. Use Ctrl + click to select multiple tags.

Edit: A serious suggestion? Could you make it more clear which tags are genre tags and which aren't? I know the "first ones" are the genre tags but it's really hard to tell where they end and where the other ones begin. (Which is why I wound up labeling one of my games, rather hilariously, as a Strategy Tactics RPG.) (Another issue is that science fiction and horror are also GENRES, just not in the same way as RPG and shooter, but I won't get into that because I don't want to semantics you to death.)
Also, WIP, as site owner, what is the difference between "Strategy" and "Tactics"

Max I am not really happy with the interface right now, so I feel your pain. Eventually it will be more clickable things and genre tags will be easily recognized.
Strategy would be something like Civilization and Final Fantasy Tactics. Tactics would be like FFT but not Civilzation. A square is a rhombus but a rhombus is not a square.

Searching "Adventure" returns all AGS games regardless of their tags. This might -seem- like common sense, but what happens when there's a Visual Novel in AGS? It's like returning all RM* games for a search for "RPG".
maybe all AGS games are adventures right now? When WIP converted the games to the new system he had to default the games to something.
This game is returned by that search despite not displaying an "Adventure" tag. Most of the catamites' other games read "Adventure Game Studio" "Adventure"

actually i tagged that one as both 'adventure' and 'rpg', but neither of the tags showed up in the profile. i assumed this was just an early thing when you tried to put down more than one tag.
