WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN WITH RPG MAKER
Posts
The interface is just kinda... I guess catered towards those with extensive backgrounds in using previous versions. I remember using it for the first time and thinking, if I had not used rm2k or rm2k3 I would have had no clue what the hell I was doing.
Dude, the interfaces are exactly the same. Between makers, and in terms of using them, nothing has really changed except the engines and scripting capabilities. Though VX took the step forward by actually organizing the event commands and quick event creation, dumbed down for new users.
I don't know, I do criticize Emptybrain all the time but at least I could intuitively tell what everything did and the interface wasn't that hard to learn how to use.
the counter-argument for most of the shortcomings for RMVX seem to be of the "but you can fix it with scripts!" variety.
Know what I'd like to see? The scripts and a tutorial on how to use them
*hint hint*

No one said that here, Mr. Anderson.
The truth is, very little of VX NEEDS to be fixed, with scripts or otherwise, with two exceptions I can think of.
1. The tileset limitation, which has never been a dealbreaker or otherwise.
2. The variable glitch (where basically variables are almost completely broken). This is just horribly stupid and unbelievable fail on their part but then again so is the fact that "Reflect" causes a fatal crash in rm2k3. GRS fixed this (the variable thing, not the reflect thing).
But in general I find the basic functionality and interface of VX much, much more convenient without even getting into scripts.
Someone *hint hint* should make an article about all the crap you should be aware of when starting fresh in RMVX, or at least post that variable fix script.

THIS.
People keep saying how much better VX is, but when you open the game, it's actually very limited to someone who doesn't know how to script or acquire scripts, moreso than Rm2k3 is. Is there a script database around here or anything?
Even if it's just your opinion, write an article about your recommended scripts for RMVX.
By the way, from an outsider standpoint, people can't really tell the different between 2k3 and VX or whatnot. (According to uh.)
