Well, I was really rooting for this bill and I'm surprised it got through easily.
Easily? It's been almost a century in the works.
This bill is a step in the right direction. It's simply a measure of insurance reform. The big thing I don't like is the whole "we'll fine you if you don't have health insurance" measure. I do like the extended medicaid benefits nationwide though. All in all, I think it's a good thing, but we'll see how this stands constitutionally.

People don't change their behavior willingly, even when it is in their best interest. They practically HAVE to institute fines or some other harsh measure.
I mean, when seatbelts were introduced AND shown to save lives, people STILL wouldn't use them and we have fines and a massive educational drive to ensure their use (and still usage is below 90% iirc)

I yelled at my mother and her boyfriend for an hour because they wouldn't wear their seatbelts. That said, poor white trash is poor white trash.
Now I'm refreshing this one page to see if there's anything worse (haven't found one yet but there's some weird one about a tea party with what'sherface alaska last election whipped in debates you know!)

That said, having read through this bill it seems to close a few loopholes in Insurance Coverage (that will probably not be enforced) and offer affordable coverage to the uninsured, but I doubt that really solves anything because they probably still can't afford it, really. This bill seems more symbolic than anything else. But the people who are screaming "SOCIALISM" have no idea what the bill is actually doing.

Whether this bill in the end will help our hurt America is anyone's guess. I am uncomfortable with this bill. Some what due to the fines. Also I am afraid that the number of new patients will make doctors more like social workers.

Bravo for Obama at least for getting this accomplished. Something needed to be done about health care. And he did it. I give him credit for trying. Now I just cross my fingers and hope it all works out.

I guess I meant relatively speaking? I thought I read recently that the bill had a long congressional battle ahead of it/would be tied up in legislation for a long time. ::shrug::
