QUESTIONS ON RPGM2K3

I am new to making games and want to know if this engine is right for the intended project. I'm willing to learn so if you have any pages with basics overview that would be helpful too.
Its a standard rpg with six characters and I want to be able to tell the game which ones to use when until I get to the point where they all travel together. Once they are together I want the player to have the option to choose who they use to fight. I also have an idea for a stance system, where each character has three stances that alter stats and abilities. If you need an example It is *kinda* like the role system in ff13.
So my question is, can I make rpgm2k3 do this?

Yes, but people are gonna tell you to do it in VX/XP because it's easier.
But yes, you can do that in 2k3.

I'm not gonna recommend anything because I'm not very familiar with XP and VX.
And because someone might choke my in my sleep.
All I can say is I love RM2003. :D

It's hard to say which maker is right for you, it all boils down to personal preference.
I have good memories with 2003 and VX, XP not so much but only because I never had the chance to really get into it. So which one do I recommend? I'm pretty happy with VX, dunno if you will be but that's my 5 cents.

mmk, think I'll go with VX then. I may have questions later on how to tailor my battle system to the way I want it though.
Ok, the how do I make it so that a certain stance (class) can alter its base stats according to what happens in the fight?
i.e. One stance cuts attack down to a fourth of the balanced stance and doubles it every time the character hits, reverting it to the miniscule number if the character misses or after the battle.

Learn the engine before making a game.

Yes, you can do that with classes, and with events on battles.

What are you talking about, I've done a game quite like the OP proposed in RPG Maker 2003 a long while back. It's not that hard and the stances are all just stat swaps and battle charset changes.
