RMN ON TVTROPES!

I did read the topic, Craze. However, I still see no good reason why that warning(?) had to be repeated over and over again in the opening post.Mostly because I agree wholeheartedly with what Max said about pyromaniacs and the garden of eden, but also because I'm of the opinion that warning people not to do something makes it more obvious to them that they can.
It will be pretty obvious if someone does make their own page and the results of this will probably be negative for them. This much should be easy for all of us to see. As a result, this should make people think twice about making their own page without the need to be warned - on multiple occasions, no less.
However, if anyone is stupid enough to do it anyway then they deserve the results. Why warn them? Just let them try it and see what happens. If they get away with it then good for them, nothing bad happens. If not then we get to laugh at them and nothing bad happens (for us). Win/Win.
:)
Anyway...
I can't be bothered helping with this right now. I might in the future because I've played a lot of RM-games in the past, but not right now.
This argument is futile, I know from having made it.
Why not add to the damn Iron Gaia page, F-G (assuming you are a TV Troper and know how it works). You're one of the few people who's played both it and Virus. And there's about a billion and one tropes in the games that don't appear on the page. (Whoever made the page applied Anti-Hero to CARTER with no mention of SLADE, for instance.)
The problem here is obvious in hindsight. This endeavor relies on people making things for other people. Most people haven't played any games are not going to be willing to promote someone else's game without some incentive.
The problem is that I would have to play the entire 30+ hour expanse of it AGAIN to correctly identify the tropes involved.
So this is not just a question of playing games. Because I have played as many games as anyone (including you, although obviously I haven't written as many reviews and also I think I had about five years head start?) and there are other factors involved like fact-checking and notability. Many of the games I think deserve it (and plenty that don't) are already up on there.
Nevermind I want to make a page for ABL, no one beat me to it or I will be very upset.
A Blurred Line is great, but it is also unfinished so it seems like a bit of a wash to put a Tropes page for something that will probably never be done.

Are pages for games that use mostly RTP going to improve "our image"? Or games that use mismatched rips from common sources? Or games with musical tracks that are all too familar? Or games that use the DBS and other default systems?
You know, those things we actually have a bad reputation because of...
These things don't bother me, personally, but I've always thought the bad reputation RM games have is a result of these things. Surely highlighting games that follow these "tropes" isn't a good way to improve "our image" (if you're going to argue on that basis. I'm not sure if I care about the reputation too much).
EDIT: Then again, RMVX/XP just go to show that having fancy, custom scripts a good game does not make.
EDIT2: This is not a slant against the makers, but a slant against 99% of the users.
Games that have a bad reputation are bad because they're bad. I'm playing Exit Fate and it has everything you mentioned, and it's one of the finest, most popular RM games I've ever played.
But anyway, I'm with Solitayre on this one. Just roll with the idea. If you don't want to do it, then don't. There will be others, as the existence of other gamepages on TVTropes before this topic even existed proves.
Man this community has a bunch of fucking whiners, I swear.

Correction: It IS the finest/most popular (free) RM* game. Well, "finest" is debatable, except it isn't.

EDIT2: "Man this community has a bunch of fucking whiners, I swear" is the whiniest statement in the whole thread, ironically.
Maybe, but it was a gambit I was willing to take.
Just don't pretend it is going to cause some sort of paradigm shift in how the indie community (in general) sees us - it's not.
Did anyone imply that it would? From the beginning this whole thing was touted as just a community action thing that can't hurt, it can just help, and it can get the word out there for games that deserve the attention.
Well, I initially thought this was a great idea and didn't see the harm in it... Reading Onyx's page (Chaos<3) has only confirmed my belief. Hopefully this will push the game's total downloads to 10,000 (which is something for most of you I'm sure, but it's good for me!).
But yeah, I've read through some RMN game pages on Tvtropes before and thought they were great. It'll be interesting to read more, and it may get a few games some much deserved recognition.
Now when is someone going to make a page for Complete Chaos? Kthx

Except it is in my opinion the best, most brilliant, and most valid, relevant, and notable thing ever made with RPG Maker.
Actually you know if someone else wants to create the page I withdraw my "dibs". I can work on the page after the foundation is created. And if no one else wants to create the page then I'll get around to it eventually.
The timesink factor is kind of holding me back. I already have so many pins in the air, so to speak.

I think I am just going to consider this event closed since it is evident no one has any interest in doing this.
Game Gale starts next week (hopefully) anyway.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ONYXSo, while you goons were sitting here arguing about whether or not recognition is good, I went ahead and started a page. I'll walk a couple of more indexes later, maybe re-play it to refresh my memory.
Y'all're brats.
excuse me

Uh yeah I'm playing through some games right now in the hopes of participating in this! Chill out and stop being so pessimistic, bro! A few loud apples doesn't carry over to the whole bunch.
