Hey, I just found this site with a bunch of free orchestrated video game music - 100 person orchestra, with choir.

They've got new and old, mario Bros 2 and Still Alive, Xenosaga and Kirby Superstar.
Basically, there's a university that actually let their students make VG music...
Share other great renditions of classic tunes.

this is blowing my mind with sheer nostalgia
WCII is probably my first or second game ever and I played that shit for years and love it to death.

While I respect what they're doing, their brass section is really inconsistent, and their drummer is terrible to say the least. Yes, I am a snob about this sort of thing. Again, I love the idea of it, I just wish they sounded better.

Also, for the brass section, would poor recording equipment account for any of it?

No, they're just really not very good. You can't blame pitch inconsistencies on the recording equipment.
Hell, it's free, it's nostalgic, they have the MGS2 theme, I'm happy enough, despite the brass sectino being a little off.
