GAMES AND WHY YOU MAKE THEM
Posts
1. How long have you been making games?
When I was a child and videogames weren't as common as I would have liked, I made paper games... I would just draw a character, draw a map, and move him around... it was very arbitrary, but I had a lot of fun doing it, and my friends liked playing. If I count that as making games, I would say... 20 years. I started learning Delphi (programming language) when I was about 13, and the first things I made were games (really lousy ones). That was 15 years ago. I think I discovered RPGMaker 95 around 1998, so... 12 years ago. But basically, I've been making games since I can remember.
2. How often do you feel like not making games any more? What makes you keep doing it?
I lose motivation to work on specific projects often... more like all the time. I'm a lazy person. I've been motivated only to work on small projects recently. But I never feel like not making any more games EVER, or dropping the hobby. That is something I'll keep doing forever.
3. What is your motivation for making games?
My motivation is having people play them, basically. I make games for the same reason I used to draw when I was younger... to show people. To me it's a way to express myself. I think that's it, expression. The world is full of weird and complex stimulation to make sure our minds are full of weird and complex stuff, but there are not many contexts in our lives where we can express ourselves in a weird and complex way. I think that's why I make games.

Also, the only people who hate RPG Maker are people who use RPG Maker.
Ironic.
Perhaps they feel they have something prove? Idgi
1. How long have you been making games?
I would say about 8 or 9 years give or take.
2. How often do you feel like not making games anymore? What makes you keep doing it? (Anecdotes are good.)
I feel like not making games all the time, since I just want to focus on the programming aspect and not making a full game myself. As for what keeps me working, I would have to say it's people and friends that enjoy what I do.
3. What is your motivation for making games? (Do not be facile: You do NOT just do it because it is fun. Lots of other things are fun, and less work, and you could be doing them instead. So fun is part of it, but it's not the whole reason.)
My main motivation for making games would be applying features and making battle systems, menu, etc and other features that would work with a game. Since it's useless to make a lot of features for the sake of making them. I'm forced to make games that can use them.

1. How long have you been making games?
Start when i know RMXP, about 5 years?
2. How often do you feel like not making games anymore? What makes you keep doing it? (Anecdotes are good.)
Often enough, i made the game alone and sometime i just fell "enough i can't do this alone" and left it.
The only thing keep me working because i love the story in my game, and i want to finish it.

Because its the easiest way to implement story i create, i tried to make manga or novel before and it failed.
