BACKING UP MY STUFF.

Alright, so I'm about to completely do a scorched earth policy on my computer and start fresh, and I'm in the process of backing everything up. My game is backed up fine, but all of my RPG Maker programs, specifically RM2003, have been patched quite a bit, in some cases I don't remember what patch it is or where I could get another. Is there a way to preserve all of that upon backing everything up, or will I have to start everything over from scratch, patch wise?
Move the folder to your backup area?

edit: I am not kidding.
What backup area?

Also, dropbox.com can do this, I think.
Export your RM registry keys too if you don't want to bother having to reinstall RM+RTP. Copy 2k(3)'s fonts too.
How can I (easily and painlessly) do that, GRS?
Open regedit (Easy way: Push the Windows Start key and 'r' to open the run window, enter 'regedit') and go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Enterbrain\RPG2003\". Right click on the RPG2003 folder in the left window and select 'Export'. Save to your backup area with the rest of RM2003 as a *.reg file. You can reimport a *.reg file to your registry by simply opening the file. Change the 'RunTimePackagePath' value (you just doubleclick on the key) to where the RTP is now located.

RM2k is under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ASCII" iirc if you want to back that up too.

Alternatively, all you need for RM2k(3) to run is the registry key with the RunTimePackagePath key in the appropriate folder in the registry. RM2k(3) should fill out the rest on their own.

The fonts is a simple copy paste. Go into your Windows\Fonts folder and copy the RPG2000 fonts and the MS Gothic fonts and the RM2000 fonts into your backup folder. Copy back into the new Windows\fonts folder after reinstalling.

*edit*
Font Alternative: Ignore it, download this and put it into your Windows\fonts folder
GRS you are a god among men. Seriously.

Any final words/bits of advice? I'm about to take the plunge!

Backup EVERYTHING. Even things you may not want to keep. You can always go back and delete it later!

(also make sure you have your motherboard CD handy, or you have the motherboard drivers handy in the backup. Windows XP at least usually doesn't have any drivers for the Ethernet card in the mobo and that can make getting later drivers on the Internet a bit tricky!

If you are reinstalling Windows XP that isn't Service Pack 2 or later, Windows will take a shit on all really big hard drives. If your backup is a BIG drive (I'd guess 200GB+), disconnect it until Windows is updated to SP2 or later. *

* This happened to me. I lost a lot :(
Just installed Windows 7. It's fuckin' weird, bro.

Everything seems to work fine, though. Thanks guys! I'll continue to keep an eye on this topic for any other last minute advice/stuff.
