GLARCS (GENETIC LIFEFORM AND RPG CREATION SYSTEM)
Posts
This would be hell to make, and would also be hell on processors. Go for it! If you understand the code DF was done in, then take a look at how the randomized generation is handled. The graphics would end up tile vomit though. And I'm not sure how the music would work.I personally think on this large of a scale it'd be impossible, but the random story gen would work, as would the maps. Dialog would be odd, and kind of static. The recording of your fighting style would be cool though.
Here we go again. You don't understand what I'm talking about. This isn't just random generation, its an artificial intelligence actually making decisions and taking the place of you as you make an RPG. This isn't anywhere near DF on any scale since it's actual life. DF is lifeless and is the same as you rolling to make decisions, this would use life and would actually think. Big difference.
Actually, let me re-use the menu metaphor. DF is you rolling dice and using the numbers to match up to some combination on a menu. A GLaRCS is analogous to you trying to actually pick a good combination that would taste good based on your experiences.
The name is a joke on GLaDOS, but it really is the same concept of a genetic life form. Engineers actually use computers just like GLaDOS to design things effectively (and in the story, that was GLaDOS's original purpose too). This stuff also makes the next gen robots tick too. And yes it would take forever for it to work on even high-end scalable systems but the topic here is: "What would a GLaRCS make in order for it to be considered a good RPG making intelligence?"

how are you three pages in and people still aren't getting this?
It's probably because I need to bring in the sock puppets.
