AFTER MASTERING RPG MAKER, WHICH ENGINE WOULD YOU SUGGEST USING

I know people keep saying they compare the RTPs because they can't draw anything good themselves but have you thought about converting XP stuff to VX? Hrm...? I'm sure someone has done this already and dumped the entire XP RTP in VX format somewhere.

This is directed at anyone who says VX is blocky or the VX RTP is blocky

just use VX anyways. It's better.
True, scripting is awesome for VX, but I'd suggest XP over VX. Sure, for VX the Scripting is better, but for XP the graphics are better. So you get the best of both worlds, scripting, and graphics.

Of course I'll still stick with the tried and true RM2K3, but that's my personal preference. OR, wait until VX has some better graphics to choose from.

Really, does it matter what system is better anyway? RM2K3 has graphics, XP is a great well rounded maker, and VX has great Scripting, they are all winners in my book. lol

VXP have almost identical scripting. VX is just more organized by default, and the window itself looks better. Also, it is a simple tweak in the scripts to get XP to run at 60fps.

I prefer VX because of the way the program actually looks, the default resolution (which can be changed in both, anyway), and the Notes boxes in the database.

VX, in my opinion, is the worst of the four main makers (2k, 2k3, XP, VX). Followed by 2k, then XP, then, the reigning king of awesoneness, 2K3.

People tend to recommend VX more because it performs much better than XP does. It's also equally capable in the graphics department, it just takes a little bit of extra effort to make maps look the same as they might in XP.

You just restated my point. lol

I wouldn't say it's the worst at all, it's great for scripting, but again... not my first choice if I want to play around with graphics.

Whoa, really, Deckiller? I'd say 2K3 is the best, followed by VX, then 2K, then XP.

Because this is possible with VX, I'd probably say it's the best if I learned to script (but, if I did, I'd want to script almost everthing, I'm sure). But, I refuse to familiarize myself with it, so 2K3 will always be my pick.

Is it coming out in NA? That would rock.
There's going to be an rpg maker for DS?!???!!??!!??!??!?
http://www.rpgmakerds.com/info.php

Yes. It's out in Japan already, I think. I don't know if there are plans to translate it.
Why don't those geniuses at Enterbrain just create a cart that lets RMVX be played on the DS? I mean I am not a huge fan of RMVX or anything (subject to change) but there is no chance of them supporting "legacy" software. But seriously, everyone would lose their mind if they had a DS-version of RMVX (or whatever) that you make games with on your PC and then play mobile. As it stands, I just can't imagine being limited to the default graphics in DS/eight buttons/et cetera would be all that appealing.

RPGMaker DS is going to have downloadable extras, so more graphics, music, sounds, games, etc etc.

No offense, bro, but you are kind of an idiot.

I also like how I cannot go into any topic without seeing this argument.

let's just change the name of the site to whichisbetter2k3orvx.net

you know, get it over with

RMVX DS would be hilarious. It'd be the first game measured in SPF! :D
All of that stuff is kind of hard to do for a DS, they could do it, but knowing Emptybrain, they're just going to mess this one up.
Knowing Enterbrain they probably added 5 new cool features but arbitrarily removed support for something else, like, I dunno, variables.
"Check it out! Now RMDS can do lightmaps natively! I guess you guys won't be needing numbers anymore, right?"

Found the Enterbrain web page of RPM DS, translated through Babelfish:

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Ftkool.jp%2Fproducts%2Frpgds%2Findex.html&lp=ja_en&btnTrUrl=Translate

Translation seems funky. At least it's not as bad as some instructions that are supposedly in English and that come nowadays with products made in China.
