DEUS EX HUMΔN REVOLUTION
Posts

In the Deus Ex games, augmentations are body modifications that allow the user superhuman abilities. While augmentations in the first two games were nanotech, Human Revolution is set prior to both and instead features mechanical augmentations. These will be divided into four types: Combat, Stealth, Technology and Social.
The game takes place during the year 2027, 25 years before Deus Ex. Nanotechnological augmentations have yet to be developed and biomechanical augmentations are the current state of the art. The main character, Adam Jensen, is a private security officer with a company that specializes in these augmentations. He witnesses a chilling attack on his company, and "the conspiracy begins."The visuals are a combination of cyberpunk and Renaissance aesthetics, resulting in a futuristic-looking Baroque world. Adam Jensen will be voiced by Elias Toufexis.
Five metropolises are included and Detroit, Shanghai and Montreal (where the developers' studio is based) have been confirmed. In addition, the protagonist will have his own apartment where he may store his secrets and collected information. The events in the game will lead to the formation of UNATCO from the original game.
My God this game is looking good so far. But I'm still waiting on seeing some actual gameplay before making my mind up. Plus I'm just hoping right now it lives up to the originals footsteps, maybe even surpassing it. What about you guys, played an Deus Ex game or seen this new trailer, which seriously blew me away haha. I will say this about Square, they know how to do CG work.
Deus Ex ranks among one of my favorite games of all time; and one of the best games of all time. I really hope it's like the first one, and more. One of the biggest things I hope they remembered is to keep, and expand on the non action 'detective' and investigative elements of the first game. Gathering information, talking to people, sizing up your choices on how to proceed, and ultimately uncovering the conspiracy was as much as a part of Deus Ex as 'KABOOM' and 'PEW PEW PEW' was.
While not perfect from a technical standpoint, Deus Ex in principle is an example of what many games SHOULD be, and very few games have been able to match what it brought to the table.
As for the trailer, well, it's fucking beautiful, and incredible. Not just by itself, but for the possibilities it represents. If Deus Ex 3 is just as good, or even better than the first game...I'll have no words.

I really don't think this will be better than the first. There's going to be so much hype and high expectations. I haven't played all of deus ex yet (dled on steam awhile ago) but I really like what I played. WRIST CROSSBOW/STEALTH FOR PURE BADASSERY.
I always wanted to play Deus Ex. I really wish they had released it free at some point, since I never picked it up when it was available.

Deus Ex 3 is one of the few games I'm legitimately frightened of the possibility it won't be good. So far it LOOKS good (and not just visually either; the entire thing is shaping up nicely so far), but one thing that worries me is the lack of Warren Spector or any of those guys working the story. I just hope Eidos has been paying fucking attention to make up the difference. Deus Ex is not an easy act to follow.
Like I said on IRC a couple of days ago that trailer is so godsdamn awesome. I would watch the movie its a trailer of but unfortunately I have little doubt that the game is going to be really bad.
But the trailer. Godsdamn... It's so fucking sweet! I watch it over and over and over again. And the music... the music! AAARGH. Why isn't this going to be good?

It's just the assumption I have. It'll be made for consoles so there'll be that going against it. And 2 didn't exactly work out. And you know.
I can almost predict how it's going to go now. It'll be released to rave reviews. ("best game ever!") then two months afterwards people will say "oh well Deus Ex 3 was undoubtedly a disappointment" (after giving the game 9/10 two months earlier). And what was earlier "smooth streamlining" and "intuitive controls" is going to be "dumbed down gameplay" and "annoying context-sensitivity".
Basically Deus Ex 3 will be "just another game".
Edit: I just saw the trailer again. FUCK IT'S AWESOME.

Heh I was showing the trailer to my sister and she said in the middle: "You're going to buy this game aren't you?" in which I replied; "No it's going to suck."
But yes the trailer is cool.
But yes the trailer is cool.
I can't just resign myself to thinking the game is going to suck ass. They have so much talent attached to this project and consultants from the original Deus Ex my heart just won't be able to take it if its bad. I can't be cynical about this. I have to keep the hope alive for this one.

Just another FPS, like the first game was. I can't believe I bought that POS.
wait you are talking about deus ex right? Deus Ex is one of the most revolutionary games of its kind. Very few games since have even attempted both the gameplay and plot features that it had. Deus Ex was so unlike a FPS it probably wouldn't be accurate to call it one (at least JUST another FPS)
Elaborate, I'm interested in your thoughts.
Yay Deus Ex people amongst me! I'm waiting for gameplay to truly see what's up. Devs said there not trying to surpass the original, but get as close as possible to it. Which is pretty cool of them.
What they need to do, is to release the original on Steam for like, a dollar, to get everyone up to speed and to get people who previously never got to play onto the series.
Also, if you want to check out something really awesome, check out the Nameless Mod, an entirely fan made mod project that took 7 years to make. While the story is completely original and not a part of the Deus Ex world, it's a mod ran off the Deus Ex base engine, but it's really well done; voice acting, gameplay, plot, technical stuff, the works.
Also it's free.
Also it's free.
