I am saying that games aren't as fun the second/third/fourth time. The psychologists sez that we are hardwired to find learning fun and we do most of our learning in the first time through. The second time can be fun in a slightly different way because we refine what we learn from the first go round, but after "mastering" the game, it is never as fun.

Have you ever seen the speed run community? Not trying to prove you wrong, but essentially trying to figure out methods to blast through a stage in the quickest time can be a brand new learning experience right? Sure you have 'mastered' the game but it becomes a different game entirely when you set up interesting goals for yourself.

Also I quite remember Half Life 2 being the most fun the 2nd time around than the first. I don't know why, maybe it was because I noticed what valve was trying to do with the game? Your "WELL THESE PSYCHOLOGISTS PROVE WITH SCIENTIFIC METHODS" statement doesn't seem to sync well with my past gaming experiences.
Well, I am not "hardcore" but there is definitely something going on when people devise pixel-perfect runs through a game, or go all out and make a career on smashing Fox McCloud off the stage. Same thing happens in other games, like sports (hence pro leagues like the NHL and NBA). But that is a rather small segment of the game playing people.

If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a 2nd hand game market!

I agree with the statement that games are just... different the next time around. It's just inevitable, you know things you can't unknow.

I wish you could. For me at least there's nothing like experiencing a game world for the first time.

For some games, when playing them again I tend to miss more things because I don't feel the need to try new things and explore, since I already know most of the stuff that made we want to explore in the first place.

(this is for rpg's anyway)

FFVIII is decent, FFIX is also great (a great 'throwback' to the older FFs while still having a modern design), and FFX is quality as well. By recent, people usually mean FF12 and FF13.
even if they remade ffVII theyd probably fuck up and manage to leave out all of the stuff that made it charming

wait a minute guys I know the perfect final fantasy game to remake

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest

I'm super serial you guys
You guys keep yer remakes, I want new games! Granted, I'll still probably play the remakes...

Know what I'd like to see? A "Mana" series title that doesn't suck balls. There hasn't been one of those in almost fifteen years.

Come to think of it, I don't think I'd mind a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure (old GB title, first in the "Mana" series)

This E3 sucked. I've never been a fan of Nintendo, but they owned this thing. I was hoping for more surprises from Sony.

Highlights: Golden Sun 3 (only game I was actually surprised to see), and the Parasite Eve 3: The third birthday trailer (looks much better than I had expected, especially for a game that started out for phones).

e3 isn't done.

It was originally just rumored to be a tech demo but was confirmed to be a real remake.

EDIT:
Sony's conference was neat, but not exciting. We knew about most of that stuff.

Also Portal 2 and FFXIV are definitely not exclusive to the PS3.

Final Fantasy XIV isn't coming to Xbox 360 but yes it will be on PC. I forgot about that. At the conference they made it seem as though Portal 2 won't be on the Xbox 360. But I think it is. I know that Steam won't be on the 360.

So who likes the new Xbox 360? I don't really like it. I was going to buy a new Xbox 360 (my old one is dead) but I really don't want that new one.
For all the fuss about replaying games I'd just like to say that some games are always going to be fun even if you beat them six or seven times (Half Life 2).

I would also like to see new Square Enix FF games. But they should go old school and make them RPGMAKER style. Now that would be kickass. Screw a remake of FFVII that game is over rated and FFIX beats it by a mile.
So uh, I'm really liking the boxart of Other M. As for the actual game I'll probably get it. I'm on the fence on whether or not it will be a good metroid game.
