*I honestly could probably list at least 20 games for number 3, but the first two are definite.
Overrated: I don't know that they can really be overrated. I think most of the fondness for video game music is tied to personal memories associated with playing the game.

1. Dynasty Warriors series (2-6, they pretty much have the same style and are all awesome. 6 is by far the best though, to me)

Pretty much agree with Statistic as well. But, I can't really think of anything that I would say is overrated anyway.

My favorite game composer overall is Koichi Sugiyama. I really like his non-game music too. I used to love Mitsuda and Uematsu, because I grew up listening to their music, but I am not so crazy about them anymore.
I wish there were more ambitious Western game soundtracks. I feel like there are a lot of talented composers who aren't given thefreedom to do really good stuff.
My favorite Western game composer only did one soundtrack: Ben Vogue, for Arcanum.

Best Western Game Composer is Frank Klepacki, who did the Command & Conquer and Red Alert soundtracks.
Ah, there's so many good soundtracks, but my top all-time favorites are all still by pretty commonly know jrpg composers.

Wow, that crisis core track is fantastic, haven't played the game though. Even though I consider FF7 to be a pretty mediocre game, it has a great great soundtrack. I've also thought of my most overrated award...
Most Overrated: Final Fantasy 8
Now granted, there ARE a lot of good tracks in this game, (and I'm still not very far yet, I just started it), it pales in comparison to the great ff7 and ff9 scores.

My top three:
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (I remember being memorized by how modern the soundtrack was at the time (I was 13). I think it spoiled me, because I haven't really enjoyed a soundtrack as much from a non-MegaTen RPG since...)
Silent Hill 1
Parasite I and II (I can't decide--I enjoy every single song from both games)
As far as overrated soundtracks are concerned...I can't really say, but my least favorite are:
Final Fantasy 12
Final Fantasy 5
Neither game was interesting for me, although FF5 thankfully moved at a quick enough pace which allowed me to finish it. I only made it far in both of them because I'd listen to my own music instead. I liked only one song from FF5 (the Void dungeon, was it?) but I can't remember anything from FF12.
