Looks gooooooooooooood.
Really... it's better than FF itself.
There's one particular tile that you didn't use, but you should: the one with a small rock on the grass.
It's the one right next to the grass tiles:

I'm also curious to seeing an ingame screen.

From that vantage point it looks fine, but in game I doubt the scaling works quite as well. Try not to make paths so unnecessarily big.
I actually figured someone would notice; I wanted to see if someone would say anything. So now I'll explain; the mountain itself serves as a dungeon; it's mostly cave/mountain basic Mt. Koltz stuff. However, this image, the base of the mountain (and those caves you see) are a refugee camp, and within the game it's a stop that serves as a town/exposition point before moving on; therefore, those bigger paths have crates and barrels and NPCs roaming around them, so they shouldn't be as noticable.
I would get those ff6 tents up there as well if you do that. Nightblade would have been right otherwise, because the screen only shows 20x15 tiles at a time so the path would be extremely large and confusing at that point.
Good map/chipset!

i am looking forward to where you go with the npcs/environment shit. while the base map is indeed cool, it begs to have STUFF on it.

You can use pano mapping and walk behind stuff easily.
Figure it out.
Oh, I get what you mean. The question is if I am going to bother doing it to every map. Anyway, I haven't started with the mapping yet. Been busy filling the database with animations and stuff.
I just want everyone to know that ironically I'm eating oatmeal right now, and it's delicious
Also mad thanks to calunio, without him this wouldn't be possible at all.
