Darn, only 3 years too late on this. Probably isn't around anymore either, from the looks of it. Would've been nice to see the coding just to have a custom menu like this. ;___;
May I direct you to this link: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/8456/
This topic is locked, but the download for a demo of that game is still existent :)
EDIT: Well, I guess you can't see the coding 'cause the demo is moleboxed...But it's still worth looking into if you're interested.
Ah I was wondering what happened to this game. Congratulations for joining the real men. Although if you are just starting out I would recommend building this using XNA with C#.
no disrespect to the creator, kudos for all the work and getting as far as he did, but since my 2k3 days (and my heart goes out to you because i used 2k3 well into 2010 so i sympathize with the preference over XP but at the end of the day XP outshined 2k3, but VX/VXA definitely dont outshine XP IMHO) back in its birth of 2003 i never understood why everyone and their mother attempted to recreate FF7,
im a proud FF7 fanboy and while i do side with the other fanboys that it was the best RPG ever made, at least of that gen/decade, i know that fellow fans and people who don't like FF7 as much can agree that FF7, along with any of the top 10 PS1 RPG's are probably the hardest games to recreate in history because their graphical level were high enough to amaze you at that time but small enough to create GIGANTIC FLESHED OUT WORLDS BRIMMING WITH HIDDEN CONTENT
PS2 and PS3 graphical abilities and content weight make games to heavy to remake them in their entirety without being a huge costly project (it would be a hell of a lot easier and cheaper on PS2 than PS3 ofcourse), and to create the perfect recreation of the world in 2D, as amazing a feet as that would be in itself, would feel like a downgrade because they don't match the epic look/style the original had, so i never understood the point, i'm sure there is one, i just can't comprehend it.

For context, the first one is from a translation of the original Famicom remake of FF7. The second is from an upgrade of the Famicom remake.

Wait mind blowing in process, i undertstand FF7 was originally intended for SNES, but this is NES, i know this is a hack mod in 1 vid but still all the resources are too well placed....im so confused @_@
and i see where your going with this, but the game was originally intended for S/NES, then moved up to Nintendo 64 and because 64 didn't have the SPACE to handle what they were trying to do, they took it to PS1, FF7 was just to large scale of a project, and as @^#($&((ing amazing as these vids are, like i mentioned before, in the grand scheme of things this doesn't haven't any appeal beyond being the prototype FF7 in terms of look and style, if FF7 was released back then in this format, aside from the amazing story and materia system, i'm sure it wouldn't be as praised as the ps1 version was for being amazing in story, gameplay, visuals and freedom to roam the world.
-- but you know what, you win, because these vids are flippin' gold and as a FF7 fanboy you succesfully hit me with Teh' Shiny, us fanboys love Teh' shiny
Here's the thread on Romhacking.net for the upgrade of the Famicom remake. (I just posted them as part of FF7 remake chat and what was being done on the NES. God the original Famicom version was horrendous in how long fights took. The very first fight takes a whole minute of mashing attack for 4 damage. The improvement is looking to improve the battles and use 8-bit FF7 music and enemies instead of stealing them from FF3)
