What if someone actually had ideas rather than just flip out and demand old antiquated systems? Yeah, what if...

As for the rating averages, as I said above: the ratings are clamped to 0.5 increments because of the site's star ratings. I like the star ratings.

BUUUUT I do see your point, F-G. I don't give a shit what's fair, but I do care that the ratings are not accurate. I'll change it in the future.

DigitalMonk, I am wondering if you know how the Misaos currently work...? I have no intention on bringing nominations back because it just seems like a wasted step. With THE POWER OF THE INTERNET and programming, I fail to see the need to make additional steps to get the net result.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but right now, you just (at some point during the year at your leisure) vote for different categories of games you like (by checking the boxes on their game page).

I just hope you're familiar with the phrase "spreading yourself too thin." If people directly vote for the awards without narrowing it down with nominations, you're going to end up with 30+ games in each category and the winner will only win with something like 10 votes. Just imagine if US elections were determined without a primary election first for each party to nominate a candidate. You go into the ballot and you have 20 people to choose from. Did we successfully eliminate an unnecessary step? You decide :P

It's a really simple fix. At the end of this year, take the games with the most votes in each category (I suggest 5) and have a runoff to determine the crowned winner of each category.

It isn't that it's hard to do. It's that I don't think it is a good idea to do it. As I just said above, I believe having nominations is a silly thing to do.

And I would also prefer the US elections to work like that but that is not relevant to this thread.
Wait a year and see how it turns out before suggesting changes!

Barely relevant but it would make my view of US elections more positive.

Edit: Also, all I'm seeing is moving back and forth between making games with awards more visible and redundantly changing things.

It worked like this for less than a month last year.
