I wouldn't say Final Fantasy VII is crap now, because it still is better then some or most of the shit that comes out nowadays(RPG Wise). I still consider it to be my favorite game because I have fond memories of playing it and getting drawn into it.
Story is important for a game, but it shouldn't really be held as the main focus because their needs to a good balance between story and gameplay, well that's what I think, because even if the story's incredible, If it's unplayable then I simply wont continue.
No I think Final Fantasy VII is a fantastic game. I'm just poking fun at the game's pretty ridiculous anime opera story.

This topic may have already died, but I just found this forum and just bought this game last night. I only played it for about 2 hours and I can say I have mixed feelings about it.
The story and characters seem good enough, and the idea of exploring 1000 years of memories is interesting enough in itself. One thing I noticed almost immediately was some really stupid art direction. Armor is supposed to be light and functional, but nothing seems light or functional about having a giant seudo phallic thing on top of your helmet, like the soldiers. Also, Kaim's outfit is just disturbing, and faggy. The combat system is really nothing special, but it serves it's purpose and some of the effects are cool.
All in all, this seems to be an ok game, but while I'm playing it I can't seem to shake the feeling that I'd rather be playing Chrono Trigger.

The character design in general is really awful. Wait until you see the Ming's disgusting massive, veiny boobs and Sed's epic-sized fannypack.

LMAO! I mean I'm all for a cute girl with glasses, but her boobs are wierd looking. And those pants...they look like she barrowed them from that fat guy you had to kill in Assassin's Creed.
I thought her boobs looked fine. They have a slope to them, which is understandable given their immense size.
