I liked that music as well as the battle music. It would be good to see some music from Final Fantasy 12 in it as well. They had some cool music.
The battle music drove me crazy in Final Fantasy X, but I REALLY liked the desert music they had in it, just simple and soothing I guess haha. Final Fantasy XII had some fucken awesome music going for it, who composed XII by the way?

Final Fantasy XIII seems to have a great story behind it, but I still have doubts about Square pulling off something great with this.
The Final Fantasy XII soundtrack was mostly composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto, with Nobuo Uematsu contributing the theme song in the ending credits.

Hitoshi Sakimoto also wrote the soundtrack for Odin Sphere. Needless to say it was a really good soundtrack.

Either way, I'm glad it's not Kenji Ito, Yoko Shimomura, Sakimoto or Iwata.

What happened to Shimomura, man... Kingdom Hearts turned her into a terrible composer or something. Why are all good composers so bad now?

PS: Heh, I wonder if they will just use the FFXII soundtrack again for FFXIII. (This was a very good burn if you haven't noticed by now.)

Yes, the music he composed was great in Final Fantasy 12.

I have downloaded the full soundtrack of Final Fantasy 12 at this site. Check it out.

Ahh...so the composer is the one who did one of the "Saga's" is it? Excellent. I LOVED their music. From Romancing SaGa to Unlimited Saga...everything was just so good!

Also...I don't find Shimomura to be bad >.> I like her KH music.

Hamauzu only did SaGa Frontier 2 and Unlimited SaGa. You can tell because his music has strong Latin American influences.

MP3s are for punks. Real men use SPC/PSF/etc.

Ahhhhh, I see. Well, I liked the music in those two regardless. Actually, all of the SaGa games (IMO) have great music. I would rather the music from the original two (RS 1-3) over Unlimited Saga and SaGa Frontier 1-2, though.

Kenji Ito did the music for the rest of the games and yeah it is pretty good. I generally don't care or know much about video game music, but for some reason I am oddly compelled by the SaGa series so my knowledge about them is pretty encyclopedic.

Well, this is turning out to be more of a music discussion, but I guess they could split the topic or something.

I'm guessing they just stick to the same style, so eventually all their new songs just sound like previous ones. Like in Treasure Hunter G which I was listening to an hour or so ago, you can pretty easily spot Iwatas songs. Sakimoto had a few good ones there which are a bit different, like the Final battle song which I liked. I'm not speaking out against them for that soundtrack, as I generally liked their songs in there, I'm just giving an example. I was glad John Pee did most of the soundtrack, as I thought his songs were pretty interesting, such as the first forest song, some of the town songs, things like that.

Or maybe they just get overworked and cannot produce the songs that they would like to, so resort to something just to get it done. I dunno.

I have been in that situation and can vouch for its legitimacy.
I loved the music from kingdom hearts. After reading all of this i probably would still like the Final Fantasy music the best. Hitoshi Sakamoto is a legend. 8)
For me FFXII was an epic fail, I didn't like any of it, (I don't remember the soundtrack :-\) it was nice seeing them do something different, but the plot did not suck me in at all, which is why i'm not looking forward to this much, plus I don't have a PS3 (yet). I think they're slowing going downhill since they became Square-Enix, well we'll have to wait and see...actually, there was one good thing...BALTHIER, BABY! ;D

KH music was very memorable I thought.

I didn't like a lot of Kingdom Hearts's music. Yoko Shimomura makes a lot of like sounding music. I think my favorite sound she did was Super Mario RPG.
I will always prefer the older final fantasy music and such to the newer. The music just made the games magnificent.

What plot.

Also, Kingdom Hearts' music is all like 30 second songs looped endlessly.

She did some pretty cool tracks for Live-a-Live and to a somewhat lesser extent Legend of Mana.
Come on, you have to give Kingdom Hearts's soundtrack some credit--there's a separate field and battle theme for each world, after all. Then again, I played the first game when I was in sixth or seventh grade, and haven't touched it in a while, so I suppose I'm unfairly biased.

Um, back to Final Fantasy XIII! What do you think of the fact there will be three different versions of XIII coming out--regular, Versus, cell-phone game?

I don't mind that there are more versions of it. Versus XIII looks like the best out of all of them. The cellphone game coming out has got to be the stupidest thing i've heard. It just wouldn't feel the same on the phone.
