This week we are ranking our favorite Disney movies. C'mon, we have all watched them at some point it our lives (like me, just last week!), so let's pick our faves! Pixar counts, I suppose. Not really sure what their relationship is, but as far as I know they're Disney.

2. Pirates of the carribean Dead mans chest.
1. Pirates of the Carribean At world end.
I didn't really like either of Dead Man's Chest or At Wits End. They tried too hard to be "epic" and lost all of the charm of the first movie in the process.
1) Aladdin
'nuff said.
(Honestly, no other Disney movie stands out in my mind as Aladdin. I'd have to take stock of what Disney movies I have seen and liked before I could even give 2-10 a shot, although I know the other Aladdin movies would be on there)
George of the Jungle and The Emperor's New Groove would probably be on the list though.

We're counting Pixar, eh?
1. Finding Nemo
2. Lilo and Stitch
3. The Incredibles
4. The Emperor's New Groove
5. Toy Story
6. The Lion King
7. The Little Mermaid
8. Alice in Wonderland
9. Mulan
10. Toy Story 2
I'm not 100% sure about that list, but it's probably pretty close. Aladdin might have to edge out one of the lower ones...
By the way, Kentona, you said you weren't sure about the relationship between Pixar and Disney, so I'll sum it up like a good little insufferable know-it-all:
Pixar used to be a mostly-independent animation studio with an exclusive publishing deal through Disney, and Disney got the rights to use their characters and stuff as part of their Disney stable/vault/what have you. Think of them like the film equivalent of a Second Party Developer for a game studio. When Pixar's contract was up, they were going to go fully independent, but Disney eventually talked them into a merger. HOWEVER. As part of the deal, Pixar got a load of Disney stock, and as a result Steve Jobs (CEO of Pixar, among other things) became the biggest stockholder at Disney, plus other big-wigs in Pixar took over big positions at Disney. The most important being that John Lasseter became the Chief Creative Officer at Disney, which means he's basically in control of their animation departments!
Why is this important?
Lasseter is a godsend. He's come in and told them that they have to stop making unnecessary sequels to their animated flicks, and that they have to start making traditionally animated films again. Which leads directly to the upcoming Frog Princess. Also, Disney's started making theatrical shorts again, which is pretty cool. Has anyone seen the Little Match Girl short they did? I think I heard that they released it on some sort of special edition Little Mermaid DVD or something. It was gorgeous.

And depressing.
Traditional Animation:

3.) Beauty and the Beast
4.) The Little Mermaid
5.) The Sword in the Stone
6.) Mulan
7.) Pocahontas
8.) The Hunchback of Notre Dame
9.) The Rescuers Down Under
10.) Hercules
Alternative:
1.) POTC: Dead Man's Chest
2.) The Nightmare Before Christmas
3.) A Bug's Life
4.) Finding Nemo
5.) POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl
6.) Ratatouille
7.) Toy Story
8.) POTC: At World's End
9.) James and the Giant Peach

Nightmare Before Christmas would've definitely rated in my top three or four, but I didn't count it as a Disney movie anymore than I do the Muppets or Studio Ghibli films.

How could you say that. :'(
On January 24, 2006, The Walt Disney Company agreed to buy Pixar for $7.4 billion through an all-stock transaction. The acquisition was completed on May 5, 2006 (swapping one Pixar share for 2.3 shares of Disney), making Pixar a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney.I went by this quote from Wiki. I read about the Lasseter and Steve Jobs things, too. Jobs has a 7% stake and is now far and away the largest shareholder.
@demondestiny: because I didn't want to come right out and say they sucked. I didn't want to hurt your feelings.
The real subtitle for Pirate of the Caribbean 3 is: Lots of Fucking Plot Twists.
I don't really have anything else valuable to contribute to this thread because I am way too cool for Disney movies. 8)

1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
This movie is totally awesome. I'm a big fan of musicals, and some of the songs in this movie are really nifty. Jack is a swell guy, I like the unusual setting and theme, and I totally dig character designs.
2. Aladdin
Again, I really like the songs and the western take on the eastern story. Also, Robin Williams used to be cool.
3. Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
This movie was nearly flawless. The same can not be said for its two disappointing sequels. There is nothing epic about pirates.
4. The Lion King
Again, sucker for the songs. Scar is also cool. I seem to have a thing for traitors.
5. The Little Mermaid
...Songs. Also, my daughter loves this movie and we can watch it together without me falling asleep, unlike most of her movies.
6. Lilo and Stitch
No songs! Just craziness!
7. Beauty and the Beast
Songs... theme... rampant heterosexual candle.
8. The Game Plan
I just seen this two weeks ago and it was actually pretty good. Who would have thought? The unusual father/daughter theme worked well.
9. Fox and the Hound
I have no idea why I like this but it was a favorite of my growing up.
10. Snow White
I hate this movie, actually, but it has a lot of importance for future Disney endevours.
I'm sure I'm missing a ton of other movies I like, especially adding in the Pixar and other non-animated films.

2. Peter Pan (the animated one not the real one)
3. Aladdin (so many memorable scenes in this one)
4. Fox and the Hound
5. Snow White (The dwarves' song is currently stuck in your head as you read this)
6. Little Mermaid (UNDAH THE SEA)
7. The Emperor's New Groove (Only recent film I liked)

1. The Sword in the Stone (I remember watching this a million times as a kid, a really fantastic film)
I forgot to add this to my list. I too loved this film when i was younger.
Favorite Disney movies.. hmm..
1. Toy Story
Mostly because I loved it when I was younger.
2 Aladdin
Pretty much the same reason as Toy Story.
3. Pirates of the Carribean The Curse of the Black Pearl
Great Funny movie, Johnny Deep is the man.
4. Pirates of the Carribean At Worlds End
A LOT better then the second, and generally just a great movie.
5. The Lion King
Again Childhood memories conquer all! although Disney did rip off another cartoon.
And that's all I can really think to remember, Ive watched more of Disney's films, but none as memorable as these.

I will only list from those found on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Disney_theatrical_animated_features
I just can't keep track of every film that Buena Vista has distributed, most of them I don't see as "Disney movies" as much. (Obiovusly not the ones only distributed by Disney though)
1. Nightmare Before Christmas
One of my favorite ever movies, so obviously it's first on this list. Musical. Adventure. Good and Evil. Nothing wrong with this at all.
2. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Not exactly 100% Disney considering it's a Warner Brothers co-production. But they get equal billing and we get both Disney and Looney Tunes in one.
Donald vs Daffy is one of the most epic moments of cinema ever.
3. Mary Poppins
With at least five classic songs in a single musical movie I can say that this is greatness. And I hadn't even seen the whole thing until a couple of years ago. So it's not even childhood memories.
4. The Lion King
This however is childhood memories. Computer generated animation combined with classic animation and great music in true classic Disney of the new generation. It helps that it has a great score too.
5. The Fox and the Hound
Another childhood movie dealing with some pretty awesome and heavy themes. Especially when I was 7 or 8. I didn't even remember this movie until some time ago until I say "oh it's this. I remember this. I cried so much"
6. The Emperor's New Groove
Wit and cool. Completely unlikable hero but so quick in the mouth that he couldn't be completely unlikable. Not to mention that the animation worked pretty damn well with that.
7. Little Mermaid
Under the Sea. I love the crab.
8. Beauty and the Beast
I love the candle thingie. I need to rewatch this.
Be Our Guest.
9. Snow White
All the pop-culture references nowadays. Hi-ho I say.
10. Cinderella
THis was the one with the mice right? I liked those.
Honourable Mention:
The Three Caballeros
Now I'm not entirely sure I've seen this. But I remember loving the three Caballeros in the spinoff stories that has been created since. (Don Rosa also did a great The Reunion of the Caballeros comic some time ago. Of coures anything Don Rosa makes is wonderful.)

10. The Three Lives of Tomasina - My grandmother loved this movie because of the Irish lore in it. I loved this movie because a kitty dies, goes to heaven, and gets brought back to life by a really nice witch who marries the protagonists' father/pet owner. Plus I was three-years-old, which might have factored in.
9. Lilo and Stitch - This movie is family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
8. Mary Poppins - The "sequel" cough! cough! REBOOT! cough! totally assassinate's Mary's character. Watch the Nostalgia Critic if you want a really good (unusual for him) analysis of this movie. (Watch his rant on the Lion King remake, too. He has a great deal more alacrity than usual and really hits the nail on the head about what's wrong with these movies.)
7. The Jungle Book - At the very least, it's a Bear Necessity.
6. 101 Dalmations - The remake...wasn't terrible.
5. Beauty and the Beast - Remakes with Hermione Granger, who couldn't carry a tune a bucket without autotune, can go die in a fire.
4. The Lion King - There you go.
3. Peter Pan - Don't worry, I love The Lion King just as much as these, but there's no way I'm letting Peter Pan get any further down the list than three.
2. Aladdin - Bet you thought if Mulan was one, then Lion King was two, but nope. I'm already disappointed in myself for not putting Robin Williams in the top slot.
1. Mulan - If you want to know my feelings, I already mention this in top ten favorite movies.
Honorable mentions:
Darby O'Gill and the Little People - Why yes, that is Sean Connery singing in a Disney movie.
Moana - This would have made it into my top ten list if so many others didn't exist. To be fair, if I ever see Frozen, I have no idea where it would go, but I suspect it will at least drop Moana lower.
The Emperor's New Groove - Yeah, I love this idiotic David Spade and John Goodman movie. By all accounts, it doesn't make sense.
Lady and the Tramp - We are Siamese if you please! We are Siamese if you don't please!
The Cat from Outer Space - The wildest game of pool ever played!
