SHINAN'S 'WHAT THE HELL' 3 DAY GAMEMAKING CONTEST!
Posts
Since my announcement is hidden in the Anyone up for a quickie contest I decided to make a topic with. I'm not actually sure if it goes here or in Moronic but someone can probably move it where it belongs if it doesn't belong here.
So this is what it's about. It's a contest that starts Sunday (though if you feel like cheating you can start right away) and ends on Tuesday (when you wake up on Wednesday the contest is over. If you didn't go to bed at all on Tuesday night... Well... I don't know what to make of that.)
The theme of the contest is "One Room". The game has to take place in a room of some sort. This is pretty open. If you want to go strange and have a guy sitting at a computer playing a massively epic RPG (that you also play) then go ahead, but good luck with finishing it in three days.
The engine is free. As are any kind of other resources. Basically for this short contest you are allowed to rip, steal and be immoral all you want when it comes to anything used in the game. Hell. You may even find a game on google and submit it as your own. (Don't do this)
This contest is not in any way an official RMN event. I just decided to start it after that topic was made. You have until Tuesday.

Well, good to have a better announcement, then, huh? I had actually started my project briefly...before I realized the starting time was Tomorrow. But now I got a foundation so I don't forget what I plan on doing, so it works out in some weird way.
I might try this *slowly pulls on mint-condition NES Power Glove w/ letters G.A.M.E.S attached on knuckles* but uh bearing in mind it takes like a day to get a gamepage approved and another day to get a download approved it's probably better if everyone just uses mediafire or something.
Yeah, maybe you should make a deadline for uploading, but they have to finish the project by tuesday...or something.
Yeah I forgot to mention that submissions don't even have to have gamepages. You can just upload the games somewhere. Maybe you'll even feel so embarrassed about some game that it doesn't really deserve a gamepage! (If you are like that. I guess there's people like that out there. This means geodude can join too)
I wanted to do a quickie contest that wasn't a single room, so I'm probably going to get a little creative to dodge the issue.
I've never taken part in these competitions, but I absolutely love when they happen. This was a great idea given the recent discussion of "The Room".
I have so much else going on right now that I'm sorry to say that I'll have to enter this contest.
Should be fun.
Should be fun.
post=156786You know, I think that's the reason this contest came to be.
I've never taken part in these competitions, but I absolutely love when they happen. This was a great idea given the recent discussion of "The Room".
So what's the judging criteria? And who's judging this (Shinan perhaps)? Does it have to be an rpg? Sounds interesting but I need details please!
Haha, how convenient. I was just working on a series of mini games for fun last night just to take a break from my main game. I guess I can just fix some kinks and just release the first game for the contest (each one takes place in 1 room so...). Then when I finish them all I'll make a game page or something
I really don't want to spend more than a working on this.
I really don't want to spend more than a working on this.
If this is an official contest, my game is going to be an unofficial by-product. I've been getting some rather blunt comments, so I think it's best for me to just back off. What I'm doing really is "cheating" with regard to this theme.
