auto tuned

The wiki was referring to the parts of the songs when it switches to a more electronica feel. Plenty of artists use auto-tuning to provide that tech-y sound. Nothing inherently funny about it. And I only picked up on two different styles of music in there, maybe three. But really, the compilation of all those styles forms a new style, a lot like how artists created rock out of jazz.

Are you defending auto-tuning by saying a lot of bands do it? It is AWFUL. Have you seen auto-tune the news? Literally any voice can be turned into the same generic sound with auto-tuning. It is fuck awful.

In a genre like hip-hop where the idea is to make phat beetz it is acceptable, in a genre like rock it has literally no place. The problem doesn't exist with them jamming genres together, it has to do with their transitions being absolutely TERRIBLE and, as a result, the genres not mixing together at all.

If you want an example of a band that mixes several genres of music together, listen to Hammers of Misfortune. Admittedly the genres mixed aren't as radically different as "electronic" and "rock" (although lots of bands have done this better and have doing so for years; see industrial music) or "classical" and rock" (which other bands have been doing for years with much better results), but the idea of blending genres is to make a song that doesn't sound wretched. If the song stops and then starts again with a completely different style of music, then it is doing it wrong.

If you like this band or whatever, fine, but don't try to argue that they are good in any technical sense, and don't try to argue they are paving any paths, because they aren't.

edit: also headbanging isn't hardcore if you're doing it with your fruity cookie-cutter hair that probably took some stylist an hour to create before the shoot, and it's especially not \m/ if you're doing it with your fruity cookie-cutter bandmates to terrible music!
