USERNAMES AND YOU: SEPERATE, OR...?

Posts

Saying out an internet alias would be weird to me. The forum I frequent most often most people are on a first-name basis with each other, and our aliases are rarely said.

My name's just an alternate version of my real name but I do try to keep internet/real life seperate. It really disturbs me when people write my name as 'Kyrsty' on birthday cards.
I swear until you mentioned it now, I always read your name as Krysty.

Happens with my real name too, all the time -.-'

I should be used to it by now, eh? P:

EDIT: Damn you internet and your lack of a way to define sarcasm :C

Use a sarcmark!
Everybody I know calls me by my last name or some version of it (for instance, everyone at work calls me by my awful work nickname, which is a terrible version of my last name!).

Sometimes my brother calls me by my MW2 callsign ("Winter") but only ever in jest. I also had one friend who called me "hat" (which is what I played HL2+modifications with), but I met him online originally so that made sense. Otherwise, nobody calls me by my online name. Usually my online names are unpronounceable, anyway.

I think almost every user here has thought tat it said Krysty. Including me :P
hey, not me, i can read
"Zero" is a nickname a friend gave me 'cause one day he saw a picture of me with long blonde hair and a red and white outfit on from when I was six or seven and it reminded him of the video game character. "z3ro" (still pronounced "zero") came about since "zero" is pretty much taken on every goddamn internet forum in the world, and it just looks kinda cool (to me, at least). So at one time, my internet name was used irl. Since his death, however, no one has used it. :(
Sailerius

I actually prefer to go by my real name (Bishop) but I'm known by my alias on so many communities that it would be a headache and a half to change it everywhere. "Sailerius" is the name of a character from a game idea that will probably never be made.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I drove to Atlanta to meet a bunch of guys I knew from an online game, and we hung out at Dragoncon. Most of us didn't know each-others' real names beforehand. Some of us never really used our character names at the convention - for instance, my character name in the game is No. If they'd called that out in a crowd, I'd have had no idea they were talking to me. So I became Ben. But we generally called Falconer and Futility by their screen names, despite everyone knowing their real names. A couple of the other guys kind of just got called whatever, depending on whether we could remember their real names at the time or not.
