Some friendships are clearly not worth the effort.

If you have to make an effort for friendships they're not friendships at all

That's not really true. Anything worth having requires effort, dude.
i think the thrust of the point is if it feels like a chore rather than necessary exertion you should probably reevaluate

come to the sound of my text
I lost my cat that I'd had since I was eight about 5 years ago. It still hurts, even though I have another cat (who's the total opposite character-wise). Nothing will ever replace her in my heart, though.

My father died when I was about 9 from an accidental overdose. He'd been hit by a car on his way home and ended up with amnesia. He couldn't remember any of us kids or mum. I still remember the day we were told in great detail, though I don't really remember him much. I don't have many clear childhood memories.

I was lucky enough to have met my Great Grandfather, who we all called Par. He was a great guy who seemed to know everything and loved to share his knowledge in amusing anecdotes. He'd been hit by a tank shell in WWII and became well-known as a horse racer/breeder. It was really sad when he died because it was only about a year or so after dad. At least he got to see my younger sister (which dad never got to do).

My close friend lost her mother and sisters in a car accident whilst we were in highschool. We all knew her sisters quite well as they'd just started high school too, and I'd met her mum for the first time the night before. Then her best boy-friend who she'd known since we were kids was killed in a car accident a few years back. It was really sad because they'd been on the edge of finally getting together after about seven years of very, very subtle crushing.
