HOW DO YOU TELL IF A GAME IS BAD?
Posts
When I play hour after hour of the game and absolutely NOTHING has happened, or if the characters have too many genre/anime archetypes, and they come off feeling a bit "deja vu."
Also, if the battles are ridiculously hard and the game refuses to give you enough to money to buy yourself enough items and equipment to properly prepare yourself.

I can tell when a game is bad when it's clear that the designer put all his/her eggs in the "custom" basket. Then again, I can also tell when a game is bad when I can't even finish watching the intro before I give up because of how poorly written the dialog and portrayed the action is.
And any game called "Yume Nikki"...

An RPG Maker RPG is bad mainly when
1) I see lack of originality (RTP graphics, characters derived directly from original game characters etc)
2) Uninteresting, stereotypical, (childish?) dialogues
3) Games start off with huge towns.

The CK Challenge: If after half an hour of starting a game I find myself playing CK then it was a bad game.
I've played a lot of CK recently.
(this is especially true for games try try to have political intrigue)

you know a game is bad when you stick 20 people in a room and none can agree on anything.
chaos ppl.
as evidence, i present this thread. reading it has given me a laugh and amazement at how much variety can come from 1 simple question.

Bad is a generalized question. So is good.
Maybe if the question were more specific, you'd get less of a variety.

An easy way to tell if a game is bad is if it lacks the rudimentary features of the genre it is in that would make it playable.

People giving different inputs and opinions?!?!? YEAH WHAT A SHOCKER!!!!
There's not even any disagreements going on. What are you even talking about.
My best friend plays everything I makee. If it makes him laugh, then I know I've done my job. If there's a long pause of no laughter, I know I need to work on it more.
Turn on the game, if you start to get that special, twisty, feeling in your stomach, you know it's bad.

A game is bad when you get so frustrated at ANY point that you want to pick up your monitor and throw it through a window.
Unless that's just player error. (aka I suck)

Slow walk speed!!!! Yes it really is that fucking annoying!!!!!!
Yeah really. Not everyone has lots of time to kill. I find nowadays I can only enjoy a mobile RPG because I simply don't have time to hunker down and grind for twelve hours to beat a boss, at home. This same time-kill pique applies to walk-speed, end of battle victory transitions, text speed, and length of pointless flashy movies (gee thanks Final Fantasy). Keeping a game quick and easy to pick up, is a real boon. Saving in the menu is also a big plus (even if I don't adhere to that at all).
