RPG MAKER 2003 BATTLE ISSUE

Whenever I test play any battles in my RPG, the enemies are impossible to kill. I've checked google and had a good look on this forum, but to no avail.

Basically, what happens is this: After the monster's HP runs out, I hear the sound effect that's supposed to play when an enemy dies, but the creature remains on the screen. No matter how many times I kill one, whether it be in a battle test or in actual game play, they will not die and the battle will not end until the hero dies. It doesn't matter what I'm fighting.

Any idea what could be wrong?
I have never heard of that before, that's for sure. Aside from reinstalling, there's not much I can suggest. Well, have you had working monsters before, or is your first install/project and nothing's working? And to be sure, no battle events, right?
The closest similar thing I've heard of this error is in XP when you change the first state to something non lethal. When enemies in XP are killed, they have the first state inflicted on them which is problematic if that state allows them to move. However they are still made invisible and cannot be targeted, which differs from this error (and it's XP and not 2k3). Nevertheless, it may be worth checking if you changed the first status effect.
Thanks for getting back to me. This is the second time I've installed RM2K3, and the two installs were from different images. The battles worked the first time, however, I ported a game I had completed in RM2K into RM2K3 that time. I double checked the conditions and the death status is definitely death. I'll try reinstalling the game and I'll get back.
A reinstall fixed the issue! Thanks, guys.
