CloseI try to do stuff with the blog function on my game page. I have been pretty busy and I haven't been able to do much lately, but I take the blog function of it pretty seriously and I like to make sure every entry is worth everyone's time. I try to encourage others to do the same, but even so I keep seeing more of the same "BLOG: EATING A SANDWICH" type shit and nothing really compelling, yeah? And that's assuming they blog at all.
I can't MAKE anyone blog or blog well, but you guys want to help me brainstorm some kind of event to get people excited about their userpages and start great blogging?

Well I certainly enjoy reading banal content, and so do a lot of other people. I like to read what people have to say. That said, this isn't about whatever viability you feel blogs have, this is about ideas on how to make an event to improve them.
well i am MAKING it about that. i'm hijacking this brainstorm and taking it on a luxury cruise through the beaufort scale
How about the concept of Doing It by Liberty? Except maybe on a daily basis. I think every small thing counts as an improvement/progress. Or maybe you could talk about your game design process in the blog instead. Things like those.

lol, bro, blogs are just another platform to be creative. so i really doubt you will see anything worth even clicking.
I only use my game's blog to announce relevant/significant developments. Don't we already (ab)use the 'What are you working on now?' topic for our little this n' thats of game making?
I'd like to see people use their blogs more effectively, but I don't think an event for them would really help. The only exposure for blogs (to non-subscribed users) is on the front page, and having an event that encourages a spike in their use would just end up with most of them buried.
The system ain't perfect, but I don't think this would improve it.

I guess it's just something to let people know of the potential and uses that blogs have. Perhaps this would be better as an article rather than an event.

It's kind of ironic that TFT said this considering how many of us are reading the rainbow blogs lately. I find them to be very worth the time to read, even if I disagree with what is said. Lots of comments too.
