GAME DRIVE - WEEK 01
Posts
OK guys, the Game Drive is upon us! It's time for everyone to start telling us what their plans are, start building some excitement and enthusiasm and jump off the mark strong!
My plan is to create a parody of the older choose your party NES games. Right now, I haven't begun working on the actual maps or custom sprites, but I have the class list ready to go:
Funk Master
Geometrist
Mathmagician
Machoman
Hacker
Villainous Villain
Robo - Nurse (This one is incredibly lame)
If anyone can think of a better name for a healing class, then shoot, cause I got nothing.

Biomancer - white mage + poison skills
Biobarian - white mage tank
Herbologist - (alt: Pharmacomancer) healing herbs + effect magic
Philanthropologist - the study of the strong affinity or love for humans
Spiritual Healers - lol

I haven't thought of anything new today. I thought of something three days before Halloween that I really liked but I figure that would be cheating.

Robo - Nurse(This one is incredibly lame)
Heh, for some reason "Electric Maid! BZZT BZZT!" springs to mind.
Anyway, I'm working on a ~visual novel~ so right now the proper thing to be doing is the writing. The story follows a hypercompetitive high school after a snowstorm isolates the students. Think Lord of the Flies. Anyway, wrote about 5,800 words today. I'll get back to it when I finish actual work.

OH! Will there be pig heads on pikes? Or do you mean scenario wise? I guess you mean the later.
Actually, I think I should put some deeper thought into what I'm going to make. I don't think I should rush into it... Hmm...
Ive had my idea for quite a while (been getting scripts together for it for ages, but havn't actually worked on it yet.)
Gunna start now...
EDIT: actually, gunna change my project to: a SMBX game!!!

Yeah, no pigs unfortunately. I just liked the idea of isolation as a plot device, so influences are Lord of the Flies and also Camus's The Plague. The main scenario involves two separate factions forming and then the two protagonists ending up on opposing sides. (Heh, and that one's a plot device from Romeo and Juliet I guess... oh well)
I've got two ideas springing about.
One is a basic 8-bit RPG that would set the precedent for two other game ideas I've got.
The other is a "RMix" (play on words here, RM + Remix) of the original Final Fantasy with a character-driven plot and a SD3 style character selection system.
If I do the 8-bit RPG, I can probably have it done fairly quickly.
The other is probably going to take some time, as I plan to build its battle system from the ground up and apply it to projects in a similar vein.
Most definitely going to do the first, though.

Here's the introduction to my game:

It's about a Greek hero who was granted immortality, and now wishes to revoke it.

Sweet! Great to know people have a lot of varied and fun ideas. Sorry I hadn't posted my own yet, I was at MCM Expo over the weekend, then thanks to London's impeccable train service it took 4 hours, 3 underground trains, a regular train, a bus and another train to get home Sunday night (when it should have been one underground train followed by one normal train and about 2 hours), so I fell in the door at gone midnight and was up a few hours later to start a new job. Now I'm all caught up on sleep and everything, I can contribute properly!
So far I've created the following:
Which combines with this to make a train top scene
And I also made a grass sample.
I'm thinking semi-futuristic, three main characters that form the party, not many other details set in concrete yet

I'm going to be creating a short cute Fantasy RPG in RM2k3. I've already planned a lot out in the past week regarding the storyline direction and the characters. I've got a start, middle but no end as of yet.
So far (as I did not start yesterday) I'm staring blankly at my 100 X 100 RTP ocean map, but before I can touch anything I have to begin the most boring stage. Resource Hunt! I'm going to be using First Seed Material, now I must copy all the Chipsets, Facesets and Charasets into my project as well as MIDI's for the titlescreen, gameover screens etc.
Afterwards, I will be adding some flare to the String tab. These things will take me a fair while and I don't want to be the guy who updates non-stop. "I've just recoloured my main characters shirt from blue to green! Plz give comments!!"
