Where in the World?

So guys, where are your games set? What's the locations history? What are the landmarks? Why should we care/ be impressed? Tell us!
This the basic stuff that I have written so far. I'll probably expand on this when I get more involved with the project.

As a timeline note: This game takes place in 2230 FM.

The Republic Of Garocha
Current Leader: President Garamond
Capital City: Garoh
History:
Established in late 410 FM, the republic is the oldest remaining nation in all of Lescia. Formed by the last surviving member of the White Brotherhood at the end of the Cleansing War, Kaol Brandt. The nation began as a small village named Garoh, but quickly expanded to encompass all of Garocha and the southern portion of the Allumina Jungle. It quickly rose to become Lescia's leading military superpower after the Rift Valley War, due to a controversial deal between Garocha and Freya. The technology that was supposedly stolen was the patent for Core Reactors, later developed in cooperation with Areccia.

The Queendom Of Freya
Current Leader: Queen Emma Matrisk IX
Captial City: Luma
History:
Formed shortly after Garocha, in early 437 FM by Lady Yura. Began in the Brotherhood base of Luma, high in the Southern Freyan Mountains, and quickly became a technological, political, and military superpower. Signed a peace treaty with Garocha in 672 FM, due to the high death toll of the Rift Valley War. They have kept distant from Garocha after a controversial technology deal went sour, leading them to believe that Garocha stole the technology it used to become a superpower.

The United Counties Of Areccia
Current Leader: Demetrius Salomon II
Capital City: Arel
History:
Formed in 465 FM, after the 100 years war ended. All of the individual counties across the land sought peace after the war, so they banded together to create the United Counties of Areccia. They constructed the city of Arel in 472 FM in order to house the senate, national market, and national library. However, wishing to protect their nation from the damage a large city could cause, they teamed up with Garocha to complete the first Core Reactors. This allowed them to create the first flying city in history.

The Badlands Kingdom Of Koppa
Current Leader: Raiken Jokin
Capital City: Koppa City
History:
Formed in 572 FM by nomads who had been living in the vast deserts of the region. After centuries of mapping the expanses of the desert, a large, lush valley was discovered, so the group that discovered it, the Kophans, set up a small town that grew over time. Soon they would become the world's leading refiner of goods, and producer of military technology.

The Trade Empire Of Occha
Current Leader: Ramsey Arkhel III
Capital City: Morroc
History:
Established in 683 FM by a travelling caravan of merchants who recently heard of the rise of Garocha and Freya, Koppa and Areccia. Wanting to get into the market of trading and exporting, they set up a small colony in a mountain bordered field, and named it Morroc. Further exploring of Occha led to the discovery of an incredibly diverse range of resources, that led to constructing of many smaller, more specialized villages. Occha quickly became an ecomnic superpower and by late 913 FM it became the lead producer of almost all material goods in Lescia. In 1000 FM a deal was signed with Koppa, so that all unrefined materials can be shipped there and refined before hitting world markets.

The Resort Nation Of Oapa
Current Leader: None, is presided over by the Garochan Government.
Capital City: None, is made up of small private lands.
History:
Late in 660 FM the tropical islands north of Occha were occupied by Garochan military forces. Initially used as a secret base of operations, this islandic nation has since become a giant private resort for wealthy people from all of Lescia. It is loosely presided over by Garochan officials, but it is mostly ruled by the people. Whether or not slavery is becoming more prevalent on the island is the subject of heavy debate, but nothing can be confirmed because of the private nature of the area.

The Adaiji Islands
Current Leader: Linaly Cole
Capital City: Bombursk
History:
The Adaiji Islands are the youngest nation in all of Lescia. Previously jointly owned by Koppa and Occha, they broke off and created their own nation in early 1945 FM. They are Lescia's lead producer of fruit products and naval goods.
I have been having a discussion about lore, and I like the questions you are asking, Sam!

My game takes place in a galaxy far, far away... But in the past! The galaxy that is explorable is what's a generation I galaxy, as in it has only been 5 billion years since the Big Bang, and was among the first (stable) galaxies to be formed. Earth wouldn't have existed (we are either gen 2 or 3...). But this does not mean there isn't life. You get to travel through time and space to planets of other people that vary from all shapes and sizes. There are only 5-6 locations, however. I'm working solo, so I can't have like 35.

The places that are explorable are:
Planet Aldat (past)
Planet Sunrey (future)
Planet Telarus III (future)
Planet Aldat (future)
Planet Sunrey (past)
Planet Telarus III (past)

Aldat is a scientific planet of people who invented time travel, amongst other things. The scientists were known for their "unethical" treatments and it caused all kinds of problems to stir. The landscape is dotted with old war bunkers from the "mutant wars" that played a hand in killing most of the people on the furthest colonies. Some mutants may still linger, but most were mainly taken care of. The player gets to fight these rogues mutants at times throughout Aldat.

Aldat in the future is a slummy mech city whose made on the foundation of illegal drug smuggling. The mayor of the city is a leader of a gang who uses androids that target banks and what-not to do their bidding. I haven't written too much for this story arc, but expect elements from Logans run and Blade Runner... Maybe a bit of Repo Men as well.

Sunrey in the past is a lush medieval place known for it's tranquil forests. It's landscape is dotted by temples of people who worship these intergalactic Keepers (read my blog for more info). You'll see shrines and temples like these across the whole galaxy, Sunrey becomes your first real example of them. Inside a temple (underwater, most of it) there are dangers - mutants - that suggest they came from Aldat's early years of testing. But why?

Sunrey in the future is going to be about colonization - like the U.S. revolutionary war. But I'm not sure if I'll add this or not...

Telarus III in the future is a desert landscape where lion-like people roam. They live as "prides" and there is "pridal" infighting causing tensions to rise between groups. You choose a side to fight for. They are fighting over a temple that was built to worship those Keepers. As fas as you'll know these lion-like people still do worship the Keepers while almost every other species has given up on them.

Telarus the III in the past is a land completely underwater. You ask yourself... Why? How is it that in the future there are land masses. This is where you'll find out what the Keepers do and what their purpose is. You'll explore and underwater society of Merfolk who were responsible for teaching the lion-like people in the future the religion of the Keepers. These Merfolk suffer from a disease that you get to help cure, but it gets tricky and you'll make some kind of decision in the future.

Yeah, take that for lore! I'm only warming up. If I make expansions you'll see more of these people and what-not.
@lennon:

charlie brown?!

Right now, I only have the world's name: La'an (Which I hope isn't taken). More to come! (i'll edit this post)

Also what do you guys think about releasing an incomplete game (think of it as the base game) and sort of add add ons to it in order to further expand the world/adventure?
The game takes place in the city of Shurpha. It is a small city on Baska Bay. There are currently 4 streets that can be explored: Consa, Ocean, Kanataqua and Revel. There is also a cemetery (unnamed for now) and the fair grounds located in Cale Park.
I don't really have a history or country or anything like that.
My game takes place in an unnamed continent in the land of Avalon and Camelot :) Haven't focused on this one that much...

My game takes place in New York City. At least the "real world" - the other place is called "Bit Bonton," a world made up of vaporware games that are in need of restoration!

I always liked setting my games in real parts of the world - typically America.
LEECH
who am i and how did i get in here

Mine takes place in... well... some random world. It really dosnt matter.
(The founding of Arcadia, Book I - Lionhart Academy, founded by Derkly Lionhart VI, Scholar and Historian)

Arcadia, founded by unknown explorers seeking religious freedom from tyranny, has been the way of life for many centuries. Founded nearly fifteen-hundred years ago, it is the largest and most powerful kingdom in Ephalon. Through diplomacy, politics, and violence, Arcadia has been able to prosper while others struggle to survive. Created trade routes and ports strengthened the economy of Arcadia, allowing it to become a Superpower within nine-hundred years of it's existance.

Other kingdoms include: Avalon, Demacia, Nimrod, Novogard, and Valoran.
Other locations include: Arcadia Isles, Barrens, Far-Lanch, Outer (unexplored) Isles, and Ryloth.

Hopefully by the time of the final release, the Lore page will contain information on all of the kingdoms and locations in the game! Anyway, I'm enjoying these Game Drives.
lennon you didn't use a saltire! i am disappointed
Oh wow, I completely forgot about those! I can probably replace Occha's flag with one, as I think it looks sort of ugly right now.
oh i quite like occha, personally i think oapa is the one to replace

or areccia, it is a little bit too similar to cuba / comoros
Well, I'll think about it. Oapa looks the most unlike real flags, so it'll probably be that.
Demacia is from league of legends, by the way.
Yes, I know this. I like the name, so I used it. Most of the kingdom names (except for Novogard) are inspired or taken directly from other roleplaying games, excluding Demacia. Novogard I made up, but it probably exists elsewhere.
Novogard just sounds really similar to NovoGRAD, a location in Allods lore.

I pulled Novogard from guard and -de novo, meaning the beginning. Also used as "The Beginning Guard" in Tales of Arcadia, it's a term used to describe fresh recruits of the Novogard military.

The only two names I took without much thought was Demacia from League of Legends and Valoran from World of Warcraft, which comes from Daloran. Avalon is known throughout the fantasy tales of King Arthur, as the burial place.

Avalon is known throughout the fantasy tales of King Arthur, as the burial place.

Ah, Avalon, the land in between, where spirits go when people die; a land lost between, neither here nor there but everywhere. Beautiful location, make it misty like!
The World of La'an
La'an is a world created by 2 Titans, Serephis and Eutopia, for their children, the 4 gods and goddesses. As these gods and goddesses grew older and wiser, they moved to Lesfora, the floating kingdom their parents live. Seeing that La'an was empty, The four gods and goddesses decided to inhabit La'an with beings similar to them, but with the lack of the powers they posses. So within minutes, humans were born. This was the year 0.
By 1021, A man by the name of Xavier saw that the creatures who lived before the humans were having their home taken away. So Xavier stood up for these creatures, and began terrorizing the humans. La'an was not safe anymore.

La'an's currency:

Suni. Suni is the type of currency used by everyone in La'an. This currency has no fractional unit.

So that's my world, and I somehow tried to make it less cliche...

I was aiming for 8 bit, but Dragon Fantasy has that down. So why not SNES remake DQ graphics?
