The tower design, altough very different, is as fun and addictive as your dungeon progression games. The tower in Demon Tower, etc. You keep going and going deeper inside the tower. It's similar to diablo I, too! Altough also very different from both, in a sense. The elements of dungeon exploration and the fact that you're inside an unfriendly tower... Umm... I can't express myself well! D:

Man, Azure dreams was like one of my first PSOne games... Played the shit outta that. Fishhooked me into roguelikes.

Also, I don't dislike that song you've sent the link to. It's slightly annoying, not something I'd listen to. But... Every OST has some annoying pieces, after all it's work, not all is made by heart. some is made by THE NECESSITY TO WHIP UP SOMETHING BEFORE THE GAME IS RELEASED HUSH HUSH HUSH

star ocean 2 has 87 tracks
around 80 of those are annoying
this is a bad ratio!! incidentally most of the good songs are hidden in the orchestra/music skills which are mostly useless so you will never hear them!!

FFV was my second favorite FF game next to 6 bein' first and 9 bein 3rd. This game's music was great to listen to, especially their dungeon music, the only one I didn't like listening to all the much was the desert one.
Though in terms of FF5's dungeon music, I preferred FF Anthology's version of Musica Machina over the SNES version. The one in the SNES didn't sound great... it sounded like a huge mix of unneeded instruments going on at once.

Basic rule of thumb is thumb is turn off the music in dungeons and battles (final battle excluded) and turn it back on in towns. yes.
I liked some of the battle music for some of the Ten Wise Men. I remember the one battle music definitely fit the battle itself; the one fight with the crazy ass screaming dude on fire.

I dunno that player can't be too bad for taking on one of the hardest bosses with just one character, right? I haven't powergamed SO2 in a while so I'm not sure where he stands. But I remember most people, including myself getting stomped into the ground with a full party on that boss.
I mean besides that though, his yelling is hilarious. Like I wouldn't be surprised if the voice actor was on a giant acid trip throughout the whole recording session. Especially when he dies, and he might just seriously SCREAM for like, ten straight seconds.
