yeah I played vanguard and engineer on insanity. vanguard is an incredible challenge and requires the most thought about the map layouts/enemy positions, and engineer was just really fun.
So I just got through Mass Effect 2. A bit of an underwhelming end. And no-one died :( I mean seriously. It was a suicide mission and no-one died? I so wanted to kill off that GODSDAMN BASTARD JUSTICAR PIECE OF SHIT. If only there had been like a moment in the game where I could have turned around and gone: "oops" and shot her in the back.
Is it just me or is every single one of the blue people obnoxious twats that need to die? (Edit: Except for that bartender one. At least she was a bit awesome)

You lucked out; because it is exceedingly difficult to get through the final mission with absolutely no one (including Shepard himself, or everyone) dying on the first try.
But yeah I don't understand why you'd want someone on your team to get killed? You know that's bad right???

How is it bad? I'm playing (played) renegade and that Justicar is against everything I represent. A stuck up bitch that follows some weird moral code. She just deserves to die.
To be honest she was the only one on my team I actively wanted dead (and the only one whose loyalty mission I botched on purpose). I mean I wouldn't have minded if Jacob, Miranda and the green guy also died. But it's good they didn't.
I also never activated the Krogan. I thought it best not to :)

I mean it's bad from a technical, gameplay scenario. The best case scenario is to have everyone survive. You're supposed to have everyone available to fight the Collector/Reaper threat regardless of your personal attitudes towards them.
Also you should have activated the Krogan. Not only does he open up a cool sidequest, he's also a very valuable party member. I don't think you actually GET anything by not activating Grunt; you just lose out on a party member and everything that comes with it.

It's just a lot more fun to roleplay the game than just play it.
To be honest there's so many party members in the game and you only ever need two to go with you. It just seems that most of them are redundant. And as much as I love Wrex I didn't want a test tube baby on my team. (unless there's an option to leave the guy on Tuchanka. In fact I probably should have left the test tube on Tuchanka too and let those guys figure it out.)

Hey, however you have fun, man! Don't let me knock your style.
I like to roleplay the game myself, but my style of playing meshes with my style of roleplaying, doing everything to the max and doing everything the absolute best way to do it; after all, if my job is to save the galaxy, why pull any punches? Better to get the entire galaxy on my side and everyone in it in my crew.
As far as party members go, I like playing around with the various ones and mixing and matching to see what they can do and how they complement one another. From a setting point of view, I love hearing their comments and how they fit in and what they have to say in what's going on; I for one love Garrus and Kasumi's comments. Thane is also an interesting character to have around.

To me my character concept was a no-nonsense person (with the Ruthless background to back it up) that will slap someone in the face if they don't do what they're fucking told. And don't you come with your damn personal problems we'll deal with them if we have time. (Except for certain characters that my character liked of course) Might have been why no one died in the suicide mission. I sent the people that were best at the job they were given.
I found I used a bit more varied characters in ME2 than in ME. In ME I always went with Ashley and Wrex (no-nonsense fighters the both of them!). But I mixed and matched a fair bit in ME2. Not that I know any of their abilities. I just levelled them up and let the AI kill stuff. Maybe at harder difficulties it's more of important to mixnmatch the right people.

Well, I do have this to say; the Shadow Broker DLC is fantastic. Really an awesome addition to the mythos and to the game, and if ME3 is going to follow this trend, I'm definitely excited. I also can't wait for the upcoming DLC that bridges the space between ME2 and ME3.
