So, today it's time for a discussion over engines (Craze, calm down). I noticed in the last topic that I'm not the only one going back to the drawing board. Originally I was gonna stick with my trusty RM2k3, but I then played in XP and VX and began to doubt I could achieve my desired effects in either program.
I then considered Game Maker 8, and was willing to learn proper coding for the first time in my life, until it struck me that if I'm willing to learn to code for GM8, why not learn something like XNA? OK, it's ambitious but it feels like a far more concrete decision with a better route for distribution.
I'm currently torn, and am considering signing up to a subscription based website to learn XNA coding from video tutorials, doing things the way I learn best, learn by example and learn by doing.

I'm using VX for mine! It's my ~first VX game~. Craze will probably be sick of me by the end of it, if he isn't already.
(Oh yeah Craze don't forget to ask Yanfly about that Rage thing)
I like VX, easy to work with. I'd like to see a combined version of XP and VX, having XP graphics of course.
2k and 2k3, I love them... So, they're awesome. But if I wanted a more graphically (non pixel-art) oriented game, I'd certainly go for XP or VX. Probably VX. But I like XP better.
Anyways.. 2k with char patch is nice. Very nice. <3

XP has always been a favorite of mine, considering it was the first I worked with I find it easy. However, in my major project right now (and probably in this if I ever get the nerve to look at the game again) I am using a few VX resources.
author=DrakonaisYes, if one character's rage bar fills up, the rest of the character's rage bars won't update until that character has lost some rage. x_x
Pokemanic, I'm curious to know what "that Rage thing" is. Are you referring to Rage in melody?
VX is what I've got and what I know. I can't script worth a crack monkey unless it's basic python on Renpy.
I'll be the odd one and say I'm using Sphere in my game. It's the only engine that I know of that can make a decent SoM-styled Action RPG. It's definitely not easy I have over 10,000 lines of code written.
Anyways, yeah, something that's - at least - not enterbrain. :D No offense, but it is kinda weird that the question is "what engine will you use" and they all happen to be in the same family! :/ (hey I'm weird like that, no hard feelings okay?)

I think damage formulas are controlled by YEZ Custom Damage Control.
I'm finding RPG Maker 2000 VALUE! to be quite nice for my needs, I'm remembering how awesome RM2K really is after jacking around trying to make myself agree with VX's map editor and other needless problems.

VX's map editor is wacky.
