So my internet got disconnected for about 9 months earlier on in the year and only recently got put back on.

After a few weeks of internet access and installing some new games I realised my PC's performance was pretty poor so I updated my anti-virus, anti-malware etc stuff and also downloaded CCleaner from Piriform to clean up all the old, broken bits of stuff knocking about my computer.

Anyway, after doing a whole load of cleaning and optimization my RPG project has been rendered inoperable. So I guess my scans removed some files from either Rm2k3 or the project.

It says that the project cannot be compiled and has encountered a fatal error.

Is there any chance this could be rectified by replacing the files? (if so it'd be good to find out which ones, is there a preferred method? or ANY method?)Or is this a corruption in the map-tree or what not?
I used to have problems with ad-aware blocking the RPG_RT.exe under the assumption it was malicious.
Seems like most point it towards a false alert so I made ad-aware ignore it.

Compiling is usually handled by this file, so check if it is still present. If it's gone I suppose any other one works, like taking one from a new project.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Yeah, Lavasoft Ad-Aware always thinks the main program file, RPG_RT.exe, is a virus of some sort. It's incredibly overzealous with its scans and gives a lot of false positives. You can just download any RPG Maker 2003 game and take the RPG_RT from that, and it should work fine.

If that doesn't fix it, check your antivirus logs and find out which files were quarantined. Maybe one of your security programs removed something else RPG Maker related also.

It's not possible for an antivirus program to corrupt the database file of a game. Antivirus programs don't modify suspicious files, they just remove them. The database of an RM2K3 game is all in one file, so it's either still there or your entire game is gone except for the maps, one of the two. If it did get removed entirely, antivirus programs can almost always restore any files they've quarantined, so check it out.
Ahhh yeah, I did use Ad-Aware. Most likely that.

I was concerned because CCleaner does permanently remove registry entries and files stored by other programs that are meant to be cleared.

I was using a modified RTP (As in, I was lazily not importing resources but instead putting them into my RTP), will that matter? :/

Besides having one hell of a confusing mess on your hands, no, adding stuff into the RTP isn't harmful.

Also:
You can just download any RPG Maker 2003 game and take the RPG_RT from that, and it should work fine.

You can also make a copy of your RPG_RT.exe.dat file you have inside your RM2K or RM2K3 folder and rename it to RPG_RT.exe.
